I have been having pain in the right upper to mid side of my abdomen. I have drank quite heavily for 5-7 years. What are the symptoms associated with liver problems?

Could be a problem with an inflamed liver - maybe due to heavy drinking or many other reasons - virus etc............It don't think it indicates anything serious (liver has great capacity to heal itself) but i'd get it checked out by the doctor if I were you - just to ease your mind!
