Q: Help! Allergic to Sperm!

I have been ttcing since 1999. In 2001 I found out that my body kills off my husband's sperm. The doctors told me that the medical world is stumped by this phenomenon. They don't know how/why it happens and there is no "cure" except an iui or several in order to get pregnant.

I am very hopeful that there may in fact be a solution. I am determined to find out if anyone else had this diagnosis but were able to get pregnant naturally anyways.

One theory is that my body does not like my dh's sperm because it is not compatible. That would be believable except I was pregnant by him before in 1997(we are child less now, but I was pregnant by him at one time).

I am very ignorant about medial subjects, but I would think having sex a lot would either make my body used to his sperm and maybe my body will stop killing the sperm off. Or it will have the opposite effect and will cause my body to build even stronger resistance to his sperm and making it even more impossible for me to conceive.

Has anyone else been diagnosed with this odd infertility and if so, what worked for you besides ivf or iui?

Thanks!

Why Not
Just go through iui, it's not painful or anything. In fact I think it is one of the easiest routes to go. Just wondering why your even worried?

i understand. I am sorry if that came across the wrong way. I have been through invitro several times now. We are now hoping to adopt. I guess because iui's and clomid are the very "first" steps in this long long journey for us it just seemed odd to even worry about iui's. Anyhow, I understand how costs restrictions go. My husband and I are very blessed both with our careers and even our health insurance (which covers 10,000 per procudure up to 4 times and then covers medications seperatley for the same amount). I wish you well. Good luck and look into all your resources.

Thank you so much! More than likely we will have to scrape together the money on our own, but I was just hoping other women had had some success using other methods.

This is even a huge mystery to the doctors because no one knows why it happens and how some women overcome it. Some women actually become un-allergic and they can conceieve as usual. But no one knows how that happens.

So I am on the look out for other "cures" like holistic or otherwise while we save money for the traditional iui.
