Alright, since last monday-tuesday I believe ive been having some odd stomach symptoms, and thought I would give it a week to see if it was serious to go to a doctor about. Anyhow, on the said night...I sat down with my g/f to eat something and about midway through I got some sharp uncomfortable pains on the right side of my stomach and soon had to go to the bathroom with diarihha, had that for about a day or two. Took some bismuth tablets and my next bowel movement was dark green/black....But since then I havent had any bad movements and the stool has been pretty healthy looking....That brown color. Although, im still feeling nausea, hunger pains when not hungry, some uncomfortable pains in left side to bout under left ribcage. I dont know what to do whether its just a virus or if I should go to a doc about it....Im prolly a hypocondriac and think I may have cancer, gastritis, ulcer or something else. Please help me and let me have some peace for myself.

Sometimes stomach medicines make stool black. Pepto bismol is the one usually that will cause this. However, a stomach ulcer or over production of acid in the stomach can cause black stools. I myself have been diagnosed with gastritis which is a harmless over production of acid. For about two weeks my stomach was acting up, being noisy, bloating, and I had diarrhea and black stools on a few occasions. I also had a burning sensation in my stomach. I had to get an endoscopy done and found that I had gastritis. It's easily treatable with nexium or some other acid reducing medication. If you are still having any problems like this, you might want to see a digestive specialist.
