If anyone is considering circumcision I am willing to answer any questions (to the best of my ability) you may have relating to what actually happens, pain, or any other issues which may be troubling you.

Balanitis
I have a problem with recurring balanitis, this time it has left some scarring on my foreskin and glans, so I am convinced it is time to get circumcised. My questions are:

does it stay dry all the time (no wetness)?
Are erections painful or just different when there is no extra skin?

I appreciate this!

Circumcision Questions
Sorry about the delayed reply haven't checked my mail for a few days, overloaded with work.

To answer your questions first w0rldd0minator the operation itself did not hurt as you correctly surmised I was under a general anesthetic. I would like to add that I was given the choice between local and general, but this was an episode of my life I was willing to pass up remembering.

As the anesthetic wore of naturally it became uncomfortable, although I think it was partly psychological.

Initially it was a little strange (as you can imagine). I had not been able to retract my foreskin at all due to a second degree phimosos (tight foreskin) so I mis-interpreted the sensation as pain. Walking proved tricky for the first week or so and I decided a week off from anything that didn't involve me sitting down was probably a good idea.

I am happy with my decision and the result is both aesthetically pleasing and a lot more fun than the previous model.

Hello darnold

with regard to your first question the glans will change after the procedure. But do not fear, it is for the better I assure you (in my humble opinion). The texture of the glans becomes, for want of a better word, "silky" its hard to describe but it is (according to my girlfriend)far far better. If you are worried about dry skin and cracking, I did not experience anything of the sort. But there is no wetness. In fact the change was almost an added bonus.

As for erections once the area had heeled throughly there was no discomfort what-so-ever. In the week following the procedure they were a little uncomfortable, but it generally wasnt a problem as it is very hard to feel amerous when you have a dressing on. But to answer your question simply they are not painful, just different.

Question
I made the jump and got circumcised yesterday. Is it harmful to get an erection while you still have the bandages on? How long does it take for the stitches to dissolve? I know these are questions I should be asking my doctor, but he seems to be unreachable until Monday.
