I have a cyst. I forget the name of it, but it is caused from an ingrown hair. It is located on my tailbone and reoccurs frequently. The doctor put me on an anitbiotic. I would like to know it there is any herbal remedies for this condition.

I'm not sure of the spelling but it is a pilonital cyst. I have had two of them. Mine were the most painful things I have ever felt Sad . I had to have the second one surgicaly cut out and then heal from the inside out. No stiches or anything. It took about six weeks to heal and (knock on wood) it has not reoccured in the last 3 yrs. I hope your can be taken care of with medication. The surgery and recovery is not something I would wish on my worst enemy.

My son has had this same problem - and has had 2 serious infections within the past year - they are now going to remove this. Everything i've read and info from our Dr. Says that antibiotics do not work in the treatment of this -- there are several places on the internet you can go to to get information and details on treatment. Save yourself the trouble (and pain!) of herbal remedies (or other medications) and seek out a good professional to deal with the gland - it is a fairly common procedure, and effective when done by someone trained and really familiar with the procedures. Good luck!
