I have been on bc for quite a few years. Last month, I missed 4 pills in my 3rd week. I doubled up and continued the rest of the pack. I had what I thought was my period after missing those pills. Then, I got my period again after finishing the pack which lasted a week and was pretty heavy. I was supposed to start my new pack this past sunday but decided not too. Ever since missing the pills I have had mild cramps on and off throughout the day....Every day. Is this normal? Anyone else ever experience this?

Sorry for the lengthy description. Hopefully it is not too confusing! Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Missed Pills
Hey there,

i have missed a couple days in a row before and it always messed with my body. Your cramps could be due to having your period or from taking a double dosage of pills, that always came me a bad tummy ache. Did you stop taking the pills because you are getting off of them? It sounds like your body is just adjusting to everything.

Hi...Thanks for the reply! Well, I missed those pills last month (the week before the sugar pills) and it just messed with my body so much that I thought I would stop taking them this month. I missed the pills then started my period early. Then, started my period again at the normal time. So weird! So I bled for 2 weeks straight! I did not think missing pills would mess with your body so much! I also started to freak out that I could get pregnant. But, with that much bleeding I definately think I would not be preg. So when you missed your pills, did you have longer bleeding and cramps that lasted for a few weeks?

Sorry I rambled...Thanks for your help!

Missed Pills
Well anytime you miss more than one pill you run the risk of starting to bleed. The hormones trick your body into thinking it's pregnant so when you remove the hormones at any point in the cycle you will start bleeding, thats why you bleed during you week of sugar pills. What happened to you is exactly what you would expect to happen. I never missed that many pills but I find that if there was a month I missed one of wasn't taking it consistently at the same time it would sometimes take a little longer for my period to start and sometimes it would be more heavy and crampy. Now your body is probably just trying to figure out what's going on. If you do decide to start the pills again make sure you become really familiar with you packet insert, so that you know what to do when you miss that many pills. I think if you miss more than two they say theres not much you can do, maybe you should have let yourself had a period and then started a new pack the week later. But I could be wrong.
