My doctor keeps telling me to get the flu shot but i'm worried. I looked it up on the internet and I got mixed messages. Did anyone here get a flu shot after they found out they were pregnant? And did everything go ok? I don't know what to do!
Thanks!

You can get the flu shot while pregnant, they kept trying to shove it down my throat till I showed them their own proof that it doesnt protect against every strain of flu only certain types.

Just an fyi to everyone, whenever you get sick and fight it off you build antibodies which are passed through you breastmilk when your baby is born, so the ppl who have been really sick in their life your child may not have to go trhough it.

I have been trying to get the flu shot but everytime I go where they are giving it they(the nurses) cancel i've been to 3 different places it's very frustrating. I want to get it because I didn't want to go on antibiotics. I had the flu a couple years ago and thought, "just shoot me" but today I went to the doctor and I have strep throat, so, now I am on antibiotics.

that is a wonderful thought. I had never thought of that. But it makes sense.

I have this belief that the more they are introduced to stuff the better they will do. The child that never goes around other kids, never to daycare, never outside when it rains, he will get sick someday and I mean bad. That is how I look at that subject. I know it's a little of the subject--but....

When introduced to things they make immunity to it, then wont get it next time, or at least not so bad---right?

I never had a flu shot w/ my first two pregnancies, but my work was offering them at no cost, so I asked the doctor and he said I should do it.
I guess, given everything else our pregnant bodies are going through in trying to grow healthy babies, fighting off the flu shouldn't be on the list. I went ahead and got it - so far, so good (i was worried i'd get sick from it). It may not defend you from every single strain on the planet, but if it helps you with, say, 10-20% or more, I think that's worth it.
I think the odds are better that the damage done to your baby in utero if you have a super high flu-induced fever is greater than their risk as a child being exposed to the flu. That's my take on it anyway.

Getting the flu shot while pregnant is not that big a risk. I don't know if u alot of ppl know this but the flu shot is not a live virus. So it is pretty safe. It is only introduced to ur body so it can make antibodies against it. It should not make u sick. But whatever u do do not get the flu nasal spray because that is made with a live virus and should not be taken when pregnant.

Well, I was reading up on it and some people think that because of the levels of mercury used in the flu shot--makes it unhealthy for the baby. I don't know. I think I have to many doubts to actually take it.
