Q: Child's Stomach Pain...

I just had a question about my daughter's stomach pain.

She is two years old and has been complaining of stomach pain occasionally for about the last month or two. Recently, she has developed a cold (very high fever for a couple days, stuffy nose, cough, no appetite)...And has been saying that her belly hurts a lot (she's not an overly dramatic child and I believe that she really does have pain)

she has been tested for a bladder infection, and also for strep throat and such, but the doctor just says she has a viral infection (the cold) and her stomach pain is not related....Otherwise, her physician doesn't seem to be very concerned about the stomach pain....But....I am worried...And wondering if I should insist on more tests....He advised changing her diet to include more fibre, which I have done, but it hasn't seemed to alleviate her belly pain...

How concerned shoud I be?

Stomach Pain = Vague
Stomach pain is very vague and since the child is only 2 it will probably be nearly impossible to get any clue as to what it is from the internet. Where is the pain? What is it like? Stabbing? Dull? Throbbing? Just sore? Does she have regular bowel movements? Adequate fluid intake? When is it worse? Does anything make it better or worse? Is she on any medications? Any medical history? Any family history of any gastrointestinal problems? Does she have allergies? Sinus problems? Headaches? Postnasal drip can cause upset stomach. Does she get nauseated? Vomit? Diarrhea? Constipation? Answers to all of the above won't even put a dent in diagnosis. Be honest with the doc. Tell him you are concerned about the stomach pain and want to know what he would do if it were his child. More tests? Or wait and see?
