Im 35 weeks pregnant now, about to be 36,
and I havent leaked any milk at all during
my pregnancy, and I plan on breastfeeding.
Im a tad bit worried that I wont have any
or enough milk to breastfeed my baby. Has
anyone else had this problem but breastfed
just fine?
I was also worried about engorgment and
weaning. I plan on breastfeeding my baby
for probably 2 months then switch off to
formula. So my question is do your
breasts stop producing milk on their own
when the baby doesnt feed anymore, will
they get engorged when you stop and if so,
how do you release it without having to
nurse your baby or pump.

Dont worry, I didnt leak at all with my
daughter and had more than enough breast
milk, I was able to pump 3-5 oz from one
breast but it really depends on the
person. My problem was that my daughter
wasnt latching on properly, I went to a
lactation specialist as well as had a
visit by nurses to help with bf and still
no luck so either I pumped or formula at 3
weeks.
The only advice I can give because they
did it to me is, when you are in the
hospital make sure they do not give your
child a bottle, the nurses didnt respect
my wishes and kept taking my daughter to
be fed. I had one nurse who did
respect my wishes but she only worked the
day and she was the one who helped me
originally with breastfeeding, watch your
child and ask that they do not give them
formula.....

I am 34 weeks and have not leaked any milk
at all either and am having the same
problems as you. I also only plan to
breastfeed for about a month or two and
from what I have read and what my mom has
told me, you breasts will eventually stop
producing breastmilk as you stop
breastfeeding. I know that when it comes
to weaning you are supposed to substitute
one feeding a day with a bottle, and then
increase it everyday until the baby gets
all it's feeding with a bottle. Good
luck!!

The more you breastfeed, the more milk you
will produce - & so when you slow down
on bf, so will milk production. As you
due dates get closer, your breasts will
prepare themselves to feed baby.
