I am 26 years old, married, and have 2 children. I have been having pain around my left ovary for a couple of years. The pain started interfering with our sex life because it felt as if he were stabbing my insides sending sharp pains. Even after sex I would cramp, feel like my hip bones were grinding together, and have back pains for a day or two. My doctor removed my iud to see if that would ease any pain. It didn't help. I had an ultra sound and it revealed a varicose vein wrapped around my left ovary which also had a cyst on it. She put me on the nuva ring for the hormones to shrink the cyst, which worked, but I had to stop using it because it was causing me to have 2 to 3 headaches per week.

For the past 2 months my periods have been irregular and I constantly feel like I am pmsing. My husband had a vasectomy so I wouldn't have to mess with any birth control methods. My doctor told me not to have sex at all for about six weeks to see if the pain would go away. It didn't!! We did another ultrasound and the nurse called and referred to the varicose vein now as a large blood vessel and said that my doctor recommends having a vaginal hysterectomy to remove the uterus and then she can remove the vein. Has anyone else had this type of thing done?

Why does she have to take the uterus to get the vein? Oh it must be supplying the uterus with blood flow--i guess. Right?

I am sorry you have to have one so early---but make sure you get a second opinion--your .Dr should recommend that and support you on your decision(to get second opinion, I mean.)

i had mine removed at 25, it wasnt a miracle cure, but things have gotten much better since then. I was symptom free within about a year after mine, that was nice. Course mine was 19 years ago.

Good luck
