I got my tb from the philippines. I was recently sick from tb in the lymph nodes. I am done with my meds but im still recovering. I had a lump on my left side of the neck. Now its just a hole in my skin with some pus.

It was so weird because all my years living (13 years) in the philippines, i've never heard or seen anybody being sick with tb.

From what i've heard/learned from the health dept. And infectious doctors, you can only get sick with active tb if your immune system is weak and unable to fight it. But for someone to be infected with tb, a person who is sick with pulmonary tb has to cough or sneeze or something for you to be infected with tb. The first place that tb will invade is your lungs. And it can either spread out or become contained in a scar tissue. But not everybody who has inactive tb will get active tb. Just depends on how strong their immune system is. If you're positive with tb infection (ppd skin test), you will always be positive. There's no medicine to completely eliminate the tb infection.

The scar tissue means that you were infected with someone who had pulmonary tb but your immune system was able to fight it. As long as you don't get sick or anything, then you're good. Keep your immune system strong. I just had a baby a few months before finding out that I had tb. My doctor said that because I was pregnant and had a baby, that my immune system became weak. And that's how I got sick with tb.

If you come to the us, you can visit the health department. They have clinics to check if you have tb and prescribe medicines to prevent tb from becoming active. Or if you have active tb, they have programs and medicines to help you recover from tb.

About TB scar and migration to other countries
I have inactive TB and was left with a TB scar. When my doctor diagnosed me with PTB minimal 18 years ago, he immediately precribed me with the six month medication. Though I worried and was ashamed to have acquired the disease, I kept my faith and confidence. I held good jobs in the Philippines. My fears surfaced only in the last five years when it was time for our office annual physical examination. My TB scar always appear in my x-ray results. Good thing, my good and renowned internist-pulmonologist in one of the Philippines most modern hospitals assured me that I have nothing to worry because my TB was treated and inactive. And that it would be perfectly ok if I want to work abroad.

So I left for Singapore. My fear dawned on me again when it was time for me to get medical report specifically for x-ray and HIV tests which are required by Singapore Immigration. I prayed so hard to God and all my intercessors coupled with my aunt's pray over. When I got the results, I was completely ecstatic! My lungs are clear, none of the scar, fibrosis, and haziness in my x-ray. I don't know if it's miracle but i really consider it one! Thanks God. So for all of you out there, let not your TB scar derail your plans. Just take good care of your health and pray. God bless!

Hello.

I was diagnosed with TB when i was pregnant with my second child. I have another 2 months to go before i finished my 6 months medications. My question is, is there any chances that the scarring in the xrays will fade away? I am also an expat in the UAE and my medical check up is due next year. Thanks.

nurse issue
I have a minimal PTB.i got this when i am still reviewing for my board exam.i have a fever then i cough and sneeze.now i passed the board exam but i have this fear that i won't get a job due to my condition.i want also to go abroad but i am afraid that i would fail in physical exam due to my scar in my lungs.
I already completed my medication for 6 months.
May questions are?
Is this the end of my career and my dreams?
Is there any chance that i could still work abroad?
Is it true that there are some hospitals won't allow a nurse to have TB scars?

Lung scar(think positive)
THERE IS NO OINTMENT FOR THE SCAR...BUT
It's not the end of your dreams...Just keep your old x-ray results(film) for comparison of the latest x-ray taken.it will be the basis that you are not a carrier(that is for the x-ray).Another test is APV test or saliva test to really check that your TB is not active. If you pass this, you are free of that disease but you have to take good care of yourself and give thanks to the Lord that you are well.
the physician(pulmonary doctor) will attest that you are healthy and can work as a normal citizen of the world.
GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU.

Innovative Drug For Scar Removing
April 27, 2006

Russian Academy's of Sciences Immunology Institute and "Petrovaks-pharm" company developed unique drug "Longidaza", which cures urologic and gynecological pathologies, accompanied with connective tissue hyperplasia, and serious skin complications after traumas, skin burns and surgery.
Tissue hyperplasia causes major complications in the form of skin cicatricial deformity after traumas, skin burns, surgery and pathologies of bronchopulmonary, urogenital and digestive tracts. For more than 40 years medical treatment for such cases included hyaluronidase containing enzyme pharmaceuticals, for example, which have several major drawbacks.
Experts consider "Longidaza" to be the drug of 21st century, which effectively inhibits overgrowth of connective tissue, destructs already formed locuses and stops inflammation development - the cause of hyperplasia. In other words, it acts as a cure during all stages of pathology development. This agent is the innovation for curing keloid scars that appear after traumas, skin burns and surgery, eliminating negative consequences of inflammatory processes, prostatitis, pulmonary tuberculosis, as well as promoting antibiotic bioavailability.
Clinical tests showed significant mend of 80% of patients, who used "Longidaza" suppositories.
"Longidaza" drug can be used for treatment of various gynecological pathologies, including tube-peritoneal sterility. Scientists combined "Longidaza" effect with laparoscopic adhesiotomy and helped 70% women to get pregnant.
This unique agent helps to cure scars, burns and other serious injuries. Before the agent was synthesized, medics used to treat scars with hormones, the method, which has some consequences.
"Longidaza" has passed clinical trials - over a thousand people had finished their therapy with this drug. The drug showed to be totally harmless - it doesn't ill-affect patients, is highly effective and causes no allergy and other undesirable reactions, which is very important. "Longidaza" is fine for plastic surgery too.

TB Scar
Hi,

My wife suffered from TB 4 years back. She was treated for six months and recovered fully. I have recently taken up a position in Kuwait and have been told that immigrants with TB scars will not be allowed any where in the middle east. I am told that Middle east GAMCA( GCC Approved medical Centers) where immigrants have to under go medical examination in order to travel to middle east have a rule that just presence of TB Scar irrespective of whether you are cured or not will make you unfit.

I want to bring my wife and daughter here. Can some one with experience in the middle east please respond.

Hannan, You have written about returning back from Abu dhabi due to scars. Did you actually fail in medical due to the presence of scars??

PTB experience
ur stories really relieved me.. i just had my medical and would be on board next week. i had to revisit the clinic and had apicolorticod view (other form of xray). At first I thought i wont be able to start my work because they saw something not good in my first xray. Thanks God that it was just the scar the doctor want to be sure of. I thought i was not totally healed on my ptb 3yrs ago. now, this is it, ill be working soon. this is actually my 2nd job after graduation last nov., that's why i was worried.

about the disease, now i know that i have nothing to be ashamed of or be worried about, cause its curable and im totally healed. feeling ko dati ako lang ang may gantong sakit, parang kpg may problem, feeling ako lng may problem. now, mas naintindihan ko n. nowadays, tb seems to be a normal disease n lng. nung nadiagnos kasi ako, iyak ako parati, feeling ko mamamatay nko.. haha, oa.

Myaville, ur story inspires me. I hope i could have the same xray result when the time comes that i want to work abroad. I thought i wont be able to work because of my ptb history, for now, i thank God that it was a scar and not a recurrence of ptb.

StellaMarie, I hope this forum would help u, same thing as what happened to me, because we two are both starting a career. Now, dont worry that much. Just continue dreaming ok? rely on their stories.

hi myaville! I'm so inspired with your story.
I just had my repeat xray this morning because of my scar. The Doctor told me that all I can do is pray for the result.I cried when the doctor said that GAMCA countries wont employ people with scar/fibrosis.I was so upset, depressed, downed and everything thats why i search on this hoping that i could find hope and be inspired!
I'll get my result tomorrow....Pls help me pray with this! I believe in miracles just like myaville.

Praise God for that hopelessnurse! Everything is possible with God, indeed! I am happy for you. Just curious, did you drink any fresh milk before having the xray?
