Q: Best Low Dose Pills!!

Hi all,

so I have been on ortho evra birth control patches for about 3 years now and I am going to switch because of recent news about side efffects. Before the patches I was on ortho tricyclen and yasmin. They were both okay but I had side effects with all. I think I am ready to try a lower dose of hormones now in the hopes it will reduce side effects such as mood swings, bad cramps, headaches, weight gain.

Which low dose pill do you like or dislike. I'm thinking about allese, ortho lo, levilite. What other ones are out there. My main concern is decreasing the headaches and hopefully losing a little weight since I have been on some form of hormones I have gaines about 15 lbs (not too bad except i'm petite) and my cups size has gone from 32d to 32ddd. I am also considering taking a break altogther but am concerned about becoming pregnant. We use condoms already because I like having a backup method but they're only 80 something percent effective when used alone. What experiences have you all had with weight gain/loss on lower dose pills?

I'm currently on estrostep fe...I'm actually looking to get off of it because i've noticed that I feel more depressed. The pills are phasic which means they increase in horomones so by the 3rd week i'm like completely depressed. Other than that I don't really have any other side effects. Do the other pills you mentioned have a lot of side effects?

Loestrin
So, i'm on my third day of microgestin or loestrin. After talking to my Dr. We decided to give this a try and come back to monitor the blood pressure. Hopefully it was just the orth evra patches that was causing that. Anyhow, so far I like the loestrin, had a little nasea the morning after the first pill, but that's typical for me. I have had a slight headache but I get them all the time so I can't blame the bc. One question for aud_23, have you had any yeast infections since you started on the ortho lo? I was on ortho tri cyclen and heard a rumor about how ortho mcneil also manufactures monistat and I did notice a lot of infections while I was on the ortho tri? Just curious.

I have had a yeast infection before but I think that is normal , but I would not blame it on the birth control. Everyone is different I tell you I have not ever had a problem with ortho lo then someone else could say they have lots of problems. If someone would ask me if they should try ortho lo I would say yes. I have been on depo, ortho and ortho lo between thoes I would say ortho lo. My opinion

Well, I posted on the forum before about a yeast infection with ortho lo. I started this pill 3 months ago, and the weeks that I am not on my period (taking my active pills) I have a yeast infection, but the one week that I have my period (taking my inactive pills) I do not have a yeast infection. It is so annoying!! I have tried all the creams and stuff, and it gets better but then it seems like it just comes back like the next day (after I take another pill). I don't know if this is the reason, but it never started until I took the pill. One of my friends also takes ortho tri cyclen, and she had been on it a while, and stopped it, then started it again, and ever since then she has had a yeast infection...I think it's weird. But, if anyone finds out anything let me know!! I can't stand this!!
