Q: Early Signs of Psoraisis?

I have long hair that extends halfway down my chest. From the get-go, since I started letting it grow long, i've gotten seemingly thousands of scabs on my scalp. From time to time, I also feel boils around the roots of my hair...And whenever I stand in the sun for more then 30 seconds, despite what time of the year it is...

...My scalp itches like crazy. Itching my scalp though, produces a clear; oily substance almost like water.

I've always been too ashamed to go to a doctor to ask about it, and resorted to using products like t-gel, and head and shoulders. But both do nothing to help the problem.

I wash my hair once a day, but the scabs have extended down to behind my ears now and seemingly down the back of my neck. My father said that when he was younger, and had long hair..He had the same problems, and said that it was nothing to worry about. He told me that if I cut my hair, the problems would more then likely go away. Or I should wait for the problem to "grow out of me".

I've always been too nervous to really ask a doctor what was wrong, because I wouldn't want them to look down on my condition or be grossed out by it. Any information on what problems I have with my scalp would be greatly appreciated.

I also want to add, that my long hair (since the scabs have gotten worse) has been thinning out greatly. Falling out by the roots.

Again, any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hey

i dont think you should feel nervous/ashamed of showing your scalp to your doctor. I'm sure he/she has seen far more "grosser" things. If you visit your doctor he/she might properly diagnose you and prescribe something to help you out. Also you can ask your doctor to refer you to a dermatologist, since they specialize in skin conditions/disorders.

Good luck!
