I had my gallbladder removed on nov. 8th and was realeased on the 9th. I am still having a lot of pain and soreness all through my abdomen. The incision right under my navel got infected so i'm taking antibiotics for that but I still feel so horrible all of the time. I had been taking percocet for pain so when I came close to running out I called my surgeon and he told me that he couldn't call a prescription in to my pharmacy and that I would have to come to his office to pick them up or he could call in a prescription for vicoden which he did. I would much rather have gotten the percocet but since it's such a long drive to the hospital and I was feeling so bad I told him to just go ahead and call in the vicoden. I've been taking from 4 to 6 tabs a day but they don't help my pain. I'm so sick of hurting all of the time and not being able to do hardly anything. I can't even wear my jeans since they rub the infected incision so i've been wearing a nightgown since I went to the hospital. I'm beginning to get really depressed as a result of this.

has anyone else who has had gallbladder surgery ever had pain and soreness that lasted this long?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thank you very much.

I had my gall bladder removed december 2002.... I found it very depressing too. You don't really get to do anything... It sucks!

It was painful for about a week, tender for 2-3 weeks.

If you don't rest and get the proper amount of time to heal, it can cause severe pain.

If it doesn't seem to be getting better in the next few days maybe you should go back to your doctor.

Good luck!
