Swallowing problem
i have the strangest symptom where I feel like i'm trying to swallow and my throat muscles get stuck half way. I completely panic when this happens. I don't feel a lump or anything...Just this inability to complete my swallowing motion. I feel I am the only one with this symptom! Has anybody experience this?

Hi Bhanu
I get the throat stiffness too..Which makes it difficult to swallow. Icant feel a lump eithr but it feels as if my throat is really tight.
Ive had this for sumtime...Doctr said it is common symptom of stress n anxiety, which causes throat muclses to tightn/contract. Doc said when stress settles so will the throat thing.

Dont worry urself about it..Cause it is caused by stress.. And u worryin about it will b counter prodcutive.
Its jus a viscous cirlce.

How long have u had it for?

Extremely eHealthy
It could also be from a hiatal(sp) hernia, but it does happen to me when I get stressed or anxious or in a hurry.
Good luck to all of you, keep us posted on how you are doing.

Lump In Throat
:d hi all,
i am new to the site & relatively new to osa. I too have the lump in my throat. I have read your posts and now feel better about mine. I am 985 compliant with my cpap. I do awaken with dry mouth from sleeping with my mouth open. I use a full face mask. I will be seeing a sleep disorder Dr. In jan. As I am sleeping fitfully most of the night.
Thank you for sharing. It's helpful.

The trouble swallowing and growth in your throat sounds like a thyroid problem. You should go to your doctor and have that checked.

tight throat
I also have problems swallowing. My problem started 3 years ago when I felt like I had a growth in the back of my throat. My throat felt tight and I couldn't even swallow my own saliva. I dropped 8 pounds in 7 days. Everyone thought I looked amazing on the outside, but I was a mess on the inside. I didn't feel like anyone understood how I was feeling. I went through tests and found that i have a hiatal hernia. I also was told that it was due to depression and anxiety. I feel that I have a fear of losing someone close to me and also have a huge fear of choking. I sometimes inhale wrong while I'm swallowing food, water and even saliva. I then cough and fight to get air to my lungs. It's scary!!!!! I wish you all the best in your search for answers. I wish this on noone!

I get this problem all the ****ing time along with temporary closure of the eosophageus causing me to have to regergitate the start of some meals which looks and sounds disgusting ( stood outside many a burgerbar after drinking and people think im being sick ) and all the doctors ive seen ( i have seen tons of them, all as useless as each other ) refuse to acknowledge it because the only solution is cannabis or quiting your stress inducing job. They cant prescribe either because governments around the world dont want people doing either because they stop spending money on tax generating activities.

I have this feeling often. The worst for me is the constant gagy feeling. Sometimes simply bending over makes me gag.
