Q: Is This Tmj?

For years i've had this. I'll feel pain radiating from my jaw (lower jaw) with pain that shoots down my back and spine and even into my chest. It's like referred pain and is very excruciating. The pain is vague and definately is sourced from my jaw. I am a serious tooth grinder in my sleep. I also was badly beaten when I was younger - kicked and punched in the jaw many times. Sometimes it comes several times a week, sometimes I don't get it for months.

Can tmj cause this weird radiating pain in my back/chest? What can I do? Usually advil does the trick, but not always. Also my jaw cracks big time when I wake up in the morning.

Thanks for any help.
