Q: Maybe Someone Here Will Know What This Is..

Hi all, im new here. I'll try to describe my symptoms as detaled as possible, maybe one of you will know whats going on..

Sometimes my heart starts pounding very hard and fast out of nowhere. It will continue pounding for about 2 minutes, then with a sudden "thump" it'll kick back into normal rythum.. While it is pounding, my chest obviously feels uncomfortable, and sometimes it hurts, but I normally feel pain in my neck, and up into the back of my jaw, and sometimes my shoulders and collar bone. Each time this happens, I feel very light headed like im about to pass out.. You know that feeling when you get up too fast? Something like that.

I notice this happens mostly while im sitting or laying down, but then again, I sit most of the day cause of work. I also notice this seems to happen more after I eat, I dont know if that is signifigant.

This will all happen about 20-30 times a day (i havent really counted) and it will be every day for about a month, then it wont happen for about 2 months, then it'll start again. This has been happening for about a year now.

I'm 26 and a smoker. As far as I know, there is no history of heart problems (or anything really) in my family. I have no known health issues and im not taking any medication. Im not stressed out, in fact im pretty laid back, so I doubt its stress.

I've read about heart palpatations, but I dont think thats it. The way it was described was fairly tame, and there is nothing tame about this. Plus what I read about heart palpatations is that if I experiance dizzyness or light-headedness, I should call 911. Well I cant call 911 30 times a day..

Anyways, my research hasnt turned up anything conclusive. Does anyone here have any ideas?

Hi there! Have you talked to your dr about this and tried wearing a heart monitor for a few days? Are you stressed and anxious, I am no dr but these are a couple of suggestions that I have.

Hi.

I dont have a doctor, but my life is pretty stress-free. I like my job and I have no worries finacially.. Im also not anxious or tense so I dont think its anything like that.

I'll be honest. When this first started happening, I was scared I would just drop dead.. Its really scary. But after a year of dealing with this (and still being alive) im not so worried as I am curious as to whats going on

I don't know about the pains. But is their any chance that you are anemic? I had the heart palpitations that you described, and also lightheadedness. Have the doctor check your iron levels. Do you mind telling me if you are male/female, white/black? It sometimes makes a difference when dealing with certain symptoms.

Ok so you rule out panic attacks. If your thinking anemia, there are many vitamin and mineral dificiencies that can cause heart related issues. Potassium being one. Another that starts with a t, I forget what it's called. My doctor did an ekg on me and said that my heart has a tiny bit of stress on it when it is resting. That was when I was trying to figure out what was wrong with me. Heart raced and pounded, I got headaches, I couldnt walk 10 feet and not lose my breath. Turned out I had an iron deficiency. A bad one. I still get heart palps and pains once in a while, especially if I lay on my left side. I hope you figure out what is wrong soon and I hope you had a great thanksgiving.

.P.V.C my son had them. His were started by too much speed---

no caffeine, no speed, no chocolate--and now he has none. He had been speed free for 1 year he did it one night wih friends and his started. It is too much electricity in the heart and the heart is either firing too soon pvc or firing to late--dont remember what the other one is called. Sometimes it does it both ways--his did.

When he had the attacks, you could see on heart monitor really fast beats and then really slow beats, with long space in the middle. He would feel like his heart was stoping, then it would beat fast again because it scared the shyt outta him. He would always get the fast beats while lying or sitting down doing nothing--that is why it scared him so bad. He could not sleep--cuz as soon as he would get stll--beat really fast and then seems like it stopped.

They told us it is usally not a fatal condition, and can be coorrected by putting a new surge of electricity into his heart--if they had continued they would have done this. But with his diet his quit. He had to quit smokin pot too--for he loves his weed.

They also prescribe beta blockers(anxiety pills) for this condition. Not because it is from the anxiety, but havung these makes a person anxious, and helps to keep stress down. More sstress more .P.V.C's

premature ventricular contractions
