Hrt
I am 53 and used hrt for about five years. I don't know what I would have done without it! I had severe hot flashes. I once timed them and they came every 45 minutes! Needless to say, my sleep was interrupted constantly until I took hrt. As far as I know, I had no negative side effects. I may have put on a little weight but who knows, I might have put those on anyway.

. . .
the biggest 'con' on hrt is that it can cause heart attacks and strokes. My adopted mother was on premarin for over 20 years. Then she startd having a series of strokes. The 50th or so one almost killed her. The doctor asked her is she was on premarin. When she said yes, he told her that she wasn't any more. Also told her that the number one side effect of premarin is strokes.

It stands for pregnant mare's urine, you know.

Also, on Dr. John lee's website there is the transcript of the ama at senate hearings, where reps from the ama apologized to the over 500,000 women who died from taking hrt.

Hope some of this helps.
