My son started having seizures at 3 weeks ago. he has had 7 in 3 weeks. They are always after he has been asleep and he awakes and slowly pulls his arms and legs up, slowly lifts his head and eyes up to roll back and sometimes shakes for two mins and soenmtimes just goes stiff. when he wakes up he starts crying instantly and all the tests are showing as normal. he has had an eeg and nothing has shown. i have this on video if someone can reply and let me know they have had this problem also.

My son (now 3years) also started with convulsions at 4 months. They also said West Syndrome and was put on cortisone injections and Sabril after that. It helped for a while and then his seizures changed from what he was having as a baby. As a baby he was jerking his arms and eyes went to one side, but now he gets like some nocturnal seizures - sometimes just when he goes to sleep or before he wakes up - or sometimes it just go on for like 10 times at night during his sleep. He starts of by gagging - looking like he has trouble breathing and then looks like he wants to throw up - and even sometimes do - after that he will go straight back to sleep or be awake all of a sudden. He is currently on Keppra and Trileptal. After introducing a new med it goes well for a month or so and then right back to start. Is there anyone who have the same experience and maybe can suggest any further testing like the calcium levels or I was even thinking blood sugar levels for hypoglycemia? Please help!

Heterotropia
My nephew's baby girl, 3 months of age, began having seizures a couple weeks ago. Nephew and wife hadn't seen any symptoms prior. MRI indicates heterotropia and neurologist has started baby on Keppra. Does anyone have experience with seizures related to heterotropia?

seizures, heterotropia
TexasAunt,
My daughter, 7 months, has crossed eyes, or heterotropia. She also has been having seizures for the last month now. She got glasses to help her eyes, and then the seizures began after that. But until you mentioned it I never thought anything of the connection. She has had a bloodwork done, spinal tap, CT scan, 2 EEG's, and a MRI. Everything was normal. The Drs know she has heterotropia, but has never said anything pertaining to that causing seizures. So maybe I will ask them now. She is on Triletptol 2 ML twice a day and Keppra 1ML twice a day. She still has seizures, she just had one yesterday and one the day before that. Her seizures last anywhere from 4-16 mins long and are full body seizures; her legs, arms, head, eyes, jaw ...everything twitches. Sometimes she drools profusely, and always is not alert, still concsious, but not responsive at all. After the seizures she is exhausted and sleeps for hours.

the seizures you described are called jacksonian seizures, and are actually very rare. the thing that concerns me the most is the number of seizures so close together... this is called status ellipticus. i would talk to your doctor about jacksonian seizures and see what they reccommend
