I have taken plaquenil twice now and every time I do, I experience an indescribable, excruciating pain in my stomach. Has anyone had any problems other than eyes with this med?

Plaquneil Taken For 10yrs
It bother my stomach for a short while but I take previcede for acid refux and that helped with the stomach. It takes 3 good months for plaq. To get in your system.. I have found it very helpful to me. I have had sle for 15yrs fibromagia vascultis raynauds lesion in the brain deg. Arthritis. I stop plaqneil for about 2 months I started back joints hurting tired felt like I had a flare everyday. I went to a lupus support group a woman there had also stopped her plaqneil and was feeling the same symtons as me. I started back immediatly within 1 month I was a different person. I was taking 200mg at that time once a day I now take 400mg 2 times a day.It does effect my vision on 400 but not on 200. Talk with your Dr. And try it again maybe taking something over the counter to help with your stomach. Good luck :) brenda foreman

I Cannot Take Plaquinel
I have tried both brand and generic. Made me sick yuck. So I tried methotrexate. Same thing no go. Made me even sicker. So now I am on cellcept for me it does the job along with medrol and celebrex. Talk to your Dr. About symptoms and tell them you dont feel comfortable with something that makes you so sick. They should understand. Its your body. What do you want to deal with. Your Dr. Is there to listen to you. Keep track of the meds you have taken and see the difference in change and side effects. Always keep a journal of what is changing in your body. Keep track of the food you eat of the exercise or not exercise you do.
Good luck and god bless.

Nicole, yeah I have been on all of those. The only problem I have had with the cellcept though, is it makes me itch all day. But doctor is insistant that it will help and get me off the roids! Celebrex helped me for about 2 days and then everything is back to normal, and methotrexate makes me so sick, throwing up and weak and just crappy. Thats the problem with all these meds! It takes so long for them to work!!

Plaqunel
I started getting numbness in my toes at the end of January. It then went to my feet, then up my legs. Now my feet are seminumb all the time and it varies with my legs. If I walk very far my legs feel heavy and there is pressure on them. I also feel sick if I walk much. The Neurologist I saw two days ago now believes it is due to Plaqunil, which I was on for a year. He isn't sure and is running some more tests. Has anyone had these symptoms from Plaqunel?
