I noticed last wed. My stool had blood. It wasn't black, it wasn't bright red, it was somewhat dark red. When I went thursday, there was blood on the tissue. I went to the doctor's on friday and he said there was no hemerriods and the rectum examine showed no blood. I have to give three stool samples and he has requested a gi. I am a 37 yr old female and I have no drastic weight loss. Can someone tell me what exactly is a upper gi (what it consists of) and what exactly is an upper gi?

Thanx

Upper Gi
An upper gi is when they give you barium (radioactive liquid) to drink and that allows Dr.S to do an xray of your upper digestive track. It is painless and easy. I have had an upper and lower gi so speak from experience.

Thanx for the info, unfortunately or fortunately the specialist went right for the colonoscopy and found colon cancer. The surgery should be in the next two weeks and waiting for the catscan.

Extremely eHealthy
Oh my goodness, sweetie. I am glad they went ahead with extensive tests, and they are taking care of it right away. They found it early, and going in to take it out, chances are great for complete health --right?

I pray .God helps you thru this, and makes sure you become completely healed from it.

Thank u very much!! God bless my general doctor who ordered tests and stool samples right away. I wish people knew if there's blood in the stool please get it checked out right away. Hopefully, it hasn't spread anywhere else.
