Hey!

I just had a baby and now im thinking about my birth control options. Me and my doc. Have talked bout it a lil , but I have an appt. Coming up when we will discuss it more. For now im doin sum research. I was thinking about the patch but since all that stuff came out about it, im like forget the patch! So I was looking @ nuvaring. If you are on nuvaring, how do you like it? Is the weight gain that bad?? Is inserting/removing it a hassle?? Jus tell me your experience with it. (i kno everyone is diff, tho!)
thanks!

Megan

I used the ring for 3 months and had to stop. It irritated me sooo bad! I was itchy and sore to touch! I wish I could have stayed on it though, I did like it. Its simple to use and if its in right you can't feel it even during sex. You have to keep the ones your not using refrigerated though. Other than that they are no hassle. I wasn't on it long enough to be able to tell you how well they work though, but at the end I did stop using condoms and didnt get pregnant, so I would say if your body can adjust well enough to it go for it.

Nuvaring
I put my first one in last night. Putting it in is just as easy as putting in a tampon, and if you can't feel tampons, then you won't feel this. I've read that weight gain is not much of a problem, especially if you are a healthy eater. I don't feel any side effects, and I won't focus on them, and neither should you. Just give it a try and see if it's for you. Some people have had to take it out right away because of depression/moodiness/headaches or whatever, but others have continued to use it for years. You feel a difference very quickly, but it's because hormones are going directly into your blood stream. I say don't be afraid to try it.

Extremely eHealthy
I would say since you have had a baby.. Why not give and iud a try..? Especially mirena.. It is good for 5 years, and has a better effectiveness than sterilization, but it can be taken out any time.

I came across a comment that really states how I feel:
"i was paranoid when I started nuvaring, I figured that since I didn't feel like caca, it wasn't working!"

it's comfortable, with a good diet and regular intake of vitamins, you should be fine. I feel great, I really like it.

Nuvaring
I was on the depo shot for 1 and 1/2 years after my last child it was horrible had migraines all the time and gained 45lbs in that short of time. I'm now on nuvaring have been for bout 14mo I love it :dlost the weight I gained in no time at all. With 2 small kids I couldnt remember the pill everyday and I go to tanning bed all the time so didnt want a patch mark lol. The nuvaring is so easy to use my husband says he can feel it but it doesnt bother either one of us. Its great I would recommend it!!!

My First Cycle Is Almost Over
Ok, I just took out my first ring, it was just as easy to take out as it was to put in. Here was my experience:

i put it in on day 2 of a very heavy period last month. After I put it in, my period stopped, literally. The next day, I had spotting, just like my period is on the last day or so, but it lasted the entire 3 weeks. When I took it out on tuesday, the spotting stopped, and then I got my period this morning (thursday). I'm hoping that the spotting was only because the ring got in the middle of a very heavy period. My period now is a *d r e a m* no cramps, no nothing, I don't even feel like it's the first day (which is always the worst, I usually don't even leave the house) I went out, walked around, I don't even feel like I have my period. I'm hoping that it will always be this way.

But yeah, putting it in and taking it out is a breeze, as long as you're comfortable with touching yourself, which you should be, because it's your body.

Sure, Why Not?
I've heard of women getting gas in the beginning and some discharge, dunno about the dry mouth, are you sure that it's directly related to nuvaring?

Once I think bout it, the drymouth could be from my allergy pills... Duh silly me!! Will the discharge stop after a couple months? Cuz its annoying!

I've been on the ring for three weeks now and I hate it. I can't wait to take it out. It seemed like every other day or so it would slip and i'd have to push it back inside of me further. I'm positive that I pushed it in as far as it would go but it just kept slipping down. Has anyone else experienced this?

Keeping It In.
That happened to me a few times in the beginning. I tried laying down and with my legs bent upward (kind of like the sex position), try putting it in as if it were a diaphragm. Sort of fold it and then put it in as deep as you can. I never have problems with that anymore (i've been on it since november), it's the greatest birth control that I could ever imagine, I thought about it constantly for the first two months, but now, I only think about it when I have to insert/remove it, and when I have to buy it. It's awesome.

I used nuvaring for several months (about 5 months) but recently stopped because my fiance didn't like it. I loved it otherwise. I did have discharge, and it never did go away, but I just used pantiliners. Like other users who have posted, I had no pms signs, no cramping or bloating, it was wonderful. I never had any problems with it slipping out, but it was kind of weird...Some days I would just be sitting down and it would feel like it was slowly creeping down, and when I went to the bathroom to check it was kind of close to my opening, but it never actually came out.
