I have been on lithium for the 2nd time (more than 2yr this time). I am stable but can't handle the memory loss. Does everybody else have it and how do they cope? Is there some other drug that does not have this side effect but is good for bipolar?

Hi, yes I had a terrible time with memory loss (which makes me wonder what lithium is really doing to the brain in the first place)

i took lithium for a little over a year and stopped taking it because I couldn't remember if an event happened a month ago or a week ago.....

I guess you just have to talk to your pdoc about another type of medication
