Are you breastfeeding? Seems thrush is candida gone amuck and comes from the mother's intestinal tract. Cut down seriously on the coffee, alcohol, sugars and any foods which encourage the growth of yeast (which is what candida is).

My son has had thrush a couple times. The anti-biotics generally take away the white stuff after a couple days if you remember to give him the medicine. And its important that he/she takes the medicine until its all gone or it could come back. Thrush happens a lot in breast fed babies so make sure you keep your breasts clean and dry if you are breast feeding. I found that giving my son a swallow or two of sterile water after his feedings help to prevent or even get rid of early signs of thrush. Its the sugars in your milk that cause the yeast to grow in his mouth. So if you rinse the mouth it keeps the yeast from growing there. Good luck and I hope your baby is well.

My baby has thrush and was perscribed nystatin. Since he is so young, I have to swab the insides of his jaws and toung 4 times daily in stead of using the dropper that comes with the infant bottle of the medicine. I heard from a daycare director that one of her daycare kids went through 3 rounds of the medicine and the mother ended up buying of of that purple violet stuff (you can get it from walmart from behind the counter without a perscription).
