Q: Hypnotherapy Treatment

Has anyone had any experience with hypnotherapy for bulimia? A friend has suggested it after reading a magazine article, but I am unsure whether it is a proven method of therapy.
It seems expensive as it seems it is only available privately, but I am pretty fed up after 8 years of bulimia, so I am considering it.
