It really isn't as bad as all that people recover in different ways,i had mine done 12 days ago i'm a 30 y old female, the only reason I have had a rough time is because of all my previous surgery and the older we get the harder it is to recover,i was up and walking around the same day (i made sure I was) it is just discomfort honestly and nothing like the pain I was experiencing before I had my op,people have different degrees of being able to cope with pain also so just because others have a bad experience it doesn't mean everyone will, just remember to rest and not try to do to much for the first week at least even if you feel up to it.I was petrified of having another op but it isn't always as bad as you think, try not to worry too much i'm sure you will be fine.Bless you and take care.

I had my surgery on 6th october. I feel ok now. A little sore if I try to do too much bending & stretching, but other than that I am fine. Try not to worry. I think the younger you are, the faster you will heal.

If you have to have your gb removed because of inflammation or stones then there really isn't anything you can do but have it removed--unless you want to suffer the pain/symptoms and possibly end up with an emergency gb removal anyways. The actual surgery is not a big deal. I was in and out in about 4 hours. The actual surgery took maybe 30-45 mins. And the recovery was quick. The first couple days are the worst. As for after the removal--some people will experience problems while others do not. The ones posting on here are mostly the ones with problems. The ones without problems aren't going to be posting because they are busy enjoying their life--pain free. It is a very small percentage of people that do have problems afterwards--although it may look like a lot on the internet. My mom had hers removed many years ago the old-fashion way and she doesn't have any problems...She can eat anything she wants. Whereas, if I even look at (or smell) a piece of bacon I get nauseous. There are medications available for those who do suffer with post-removal diarrhea.

Wish you well on your surgery and recovery.
