Hi! Let me introduce myself. My name is samantha. I got pregnant when I was 15 and had my son at 16 (that was back in 1989). I know what it is like to be a teen mom. It is tough! I am now 30. I somehow finished college with a degree in psychology and I am starting on my masters. I have one other son and I am pregnant now. I have had a miscarriage and an abortion. I have run a teen mom support group and worked at a teen crisis pregnancy center. If any one has any questions, concerns or just wants to talk I am here. I know a lot and I think I can help. Thanks
sam

Thanks for the welcome! Anything I can do to help let me know!
I also know a lot about keeping healthy while pregnant and weight loss after the baby. Trust me, those issues (the weight gain and loss) have plagued me! Thanks again,
sam

More About Me
Like I said, I had my son at 16. He is now 14 (just turned). I always looked way younger and people thought he was my brother! I was judged a lot!! That is why I went back to high school and on to college. I also wanted a better life for us. It was real hard being a teen mom! I also had to deal with extra weight I put on. I was always skinny and when I got pregnant I thought I could mucnch down! I paid the price later. Labor was scary, but my mom was a nurse so she prepared me a little. Even though it has been 14 years, I can still remember the feelings I had when he was an infant. I was in amazed, but also very afraid. He was so little and I was so young. I got dirty looks from people a lot. We grew up togther, that is how I look at it. When I was 23 I had my other son. I only looked 18 and people still thought I was a pregnant teen. I was married by than and had my own home and in college, but I still had those dirty looks!! That is when I statred the teen mom support group. Having my second son was so much different because I was older. I was a lot less stressed and my son was a lot happier. Being pregnant at 30 is different. I think each time someone is pregnant it will be different. I could rattle on some more but I wont. If you have any questions I will answer them!
Good luck everyone,
sam

Insurancegirl, that is great!!! It is hard, but well worth it! It will make life a lot easier for you and your child. How old are you now? You have a four year old. Any more kids? You and I are the exception to the rule. Unfortunately, most teen moms never finish high school. I love to hear about sucess stories, it helps to motivate others. Life is hard as a teen mom, but impossible. That is why I want to help. Sounds like you are doing the same.

Wow! You must be busy. Is it hard having three young ones? All of mine are 7 years apart! If you don’t mind, were they all planned or oh no! I think that takes a lot of strength to be a young mom of three and go to school. Sure you have not done everything you wanted to do, but who has? You have done enough for three women!
I wish you happiness. Keep in touch,
sam
