This is happening to my sister-in-law. She is 15 and for more than 2 years she has had occasional swelling on her face - eyes, mouth, etc. We have always related to stressful situations. She had an allergy test done - negative. Recently (past 2 months) she had had more swelling all over the body face, limbs, back, wrists, ankles. She is not overweight, but life has been more stressful for her. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Has anyone heard for anything like this?

Swelling
My cousin, who is 14, has had this happen many times. Her doctor says that she is having a reaction to a chemical. She has stopped using all make up, lotions, etc, all but deoderant. Still, she has these swelling episodes every couple of months. Even though it is usually only her face that swells, the doctor suggested that it is a chemical in her deoderant. I wish I could help more, but that is all I know.

Swelling
My face was swelling tonque, lips, neck and I found out I was allergic to antisteriodals like motrin, vioxx, advil. Since i've only used tylenol i'm ok. The way I found this out was after all the alergy testing coming back negative, I kept a journal, as it turns out every time I swelled it was after taking motrin or something like it!!!!

Extremely eHealthy
I haven't heard of anything like this but if it is stress here are a couple of things that have helped my daughter (also 15). Take a gentle walk between 6 & 7 am even if overcast there's something between the sun & the chemicals in our brains at this time which reduces stress. Increase intake of foods with tryptophan which balances the serotonin levels in the brain & reduces stress - such foods include, ricotta & some other cheeses, most nuts, turkey, bananas, pumpkin seeds etc etc. You can also get it in a supplement form thp5 (i think it is) you would start on 100mg p.D & after awhile reduce to 50 mgs p.D (sorry I don't know what the conversion is from mgs to ??What you use).

Latest On the Swelling Situation
Well - she is currently taking allegra and she was prescribed an epipen because of a situation that the inside of her throat swelled up. She seems to be doing better, but we will try the walking and the vitamins. Thanks. Also, she does seem to have a link between asprin and swelling (sometimes). Also, a doctor told me that stress and your nerves are sometimes what triggers the episodes.

Hello
I had that before, like 3 times and it comes and goes and my doctor test me for allegy and nothing I don't have any... But we did end up in the hospital one night because I started swelling up in the middle of the night like on different places and it did'n hurt .... And anyway they could'n figure it out . Maybe it is stress , but in the middle of the night? Rolling Eyes
