Hi all..My boy has been tired and pale for the past 6 weeks and his teacher has said he's not coping very well at school which is unusal for him as he loves school...These are his only symptoms. He had his blood tested a month ago which showed some slight abnormality in his white blood count (a little low) and his thyroxine was only slightly low. His urine test showed luekocytes also. The doc said the tests indicated an infection going on somewhere in his body but gave him no medication.

Last week, my boy did'nt want to go to school and when I did get him there, he cried and cried and was very upset. His teacher said he was still not coping very well so I took him back to the doc. Further tests showed again some abnormality so they placed him on an antibiotic. I did'nt feel he needed one as he had no sign of fever or runny nose or anything. He has finished the course of antibiotic, and still he is tired and pale. He is very exercise intolerant, just walking down the street tires him out. He has had his heart tested (ekg and chest xray) about 6 weeks ago and that was all fine. My question is, can he have an infection going on in his body for 6 weeks?? They are testing his bloods again in three weeks time. What happens if they are still abnormal? And also, when they sent off his urine sample, it was lost in transit and they decided there was no need for another urine test. Should I be concerned if his blood test is still abnormal? Or is this common? Thanks
