Q: Revision Too Soon?

I recently (august 14th) had rhinoplasty done. I am unhappy with the results- as it is already evident that the surgeon didnt remove enough. Im currently teaching in taiwan, a surgeon was recommended to me and after talking about what I wanted I had the surgery done. I am leaving to go back to south africa (my home country) in february. Obviously I am upset that the operation was not successful. The surgeon would of course like me to leave here satisfied and is more than willing to 'fix' the problem. He is recommending revision surgery in december (4 months after 1st op) however, I have read elsewhere that revision surgery should only be performed a year after the first procedure. I would like to know how long you should wait after a rhinoplasty before attempting revision surgery? He explained to me that in the first procedure he did the following:

1) resect the hump (osteo-cartilage..Removed as a unit, then shaved to shape)
2) a green stick fracture of the nasal bone
3) resect more cartilage and suture together
4) resect cephalic part of lower lateral catilage and septum to lift tip.

The revision would include the following:
1) resect septum -upper lateral cartilage and lower lateral cartilage
2) nasal bone shaving -right lateral part of open roof (one side is higher)

(please excuse any incorrect terminology or spelling, this was how it was relayed to me by the doctor.)

the doctor is implying to me that the revision is a simple procedure and much easier than the first. He is saying that he thinks it is safe and the best option to do revision after 4 months. On the other hand because I am leaving the country I am afraid he is rushing a revision and not taking into consideration if this is the best decision for me.
Any help or information about revision surgery will be greatly appreciated.

Hi there... I just read your message and I am in the same situation as you are yet I am now over 8 month's post op my primary surgery. Honestly, I think that maybe 4 month's may be a bit too soon because you are barely recovering, and many surgeons have said they will not operate on their patients until 9 to 12 month's after their first surgery... Yet, if your doctor seems trustworthy... Then I don't think you should really be too afraid, but I do think you should maybe have some consults with other doctors and see what they say... The nose changes quite considerably after the 3 to 4 month mark in comparison to the 10 to 11 month mark... But I think bridge work and other work can be an exception. Was this an open or closed rhinoplasty? Is there any way you can come back here after maybe your 6th month mark to redo the surgery??
