Q: Leep Questions

Hello all. This is my first post. I have been recommended to have a leep done b/c of severe precancerous cells on my cervix. The doctor tells me that the standard of care is to cut away the first 7 millimeters of all cervical tissue, rather than just cutting away the affected areas. Also, she uses an iv in addition to local anesthesia so I won't be awake during the procedure. I'm very nervous and don't want her to take more tissue than necessary, given the risks to later pregnancies. I am only 28 and still want to be able to have a healthy full-term pregnancy in the future. Does anyone have any info/experience that will help me feel less terrified of this procedure! Thank you.

Leep Procedure
Hi there. I had a leep procedure for the same reason about 6 years ago. Honestly it wasn't that bad. They did not put me to sleep and the recovery time was minimal. I had my third child about 2 years after the procedure and actually I was able to get pregnant very easily. The thought of it all is very scarey but all in all it's nothing like giving birth. Give yourself a couple of days to recover and you'll be fine. Good luck!
