Afraid Cut On Foot Is Infected Posted: 11-01-05 14:41pm
3 days ago I was wearing shoes that
basically rubbed a bit of skin off the
back of my heel (it was a pretty deep rub,
but it didn't hurt really bad). I put a
bandaid on it and proceeded to walk around
the whole next day. However, that night
my foot was throbbing and yellowish pus
was draining from the wound. Now it is
tender (not throbbing) but there is a deep
red area directly around the opening and
still some pus comes on the bandaid. I
soaked the foot in epsom salt last night
and change the bandages a few times a day
but i'm concerned that it may be infected.
I feel a little under the weather today
but am not sure if I have a fever or not.
I would much rather do home treatment
then deal with going to the doctor. Any
advice?

I would suggest to get domeboro's salt
from the pharmacy. Check your temp if you
have a fever you don't have a choice you
need to be seen in an ER as an infection
with a fever is not good news.
Soak it and let it air out as much as
possible. Don't wear shoes that will keep
rubbing on it either.
If it doesn't get better within a day or
so then you really need to be seen.
