Whoa. Ok ariella, stop being stupid. Planned parenthood is just about everywhere. If you have a compter, you can do a websearch. Maybe they are at Plannedparenthood.Com also church officials can be very helpful. I had a friend that went to an unwed home for mothers (she was 14 at the time in the early 80's). The baby was then adopted to a great family, and she gets photos every birthday and gets an annual visit. She's now a doctor, and has two children.
That said.....Rh negative mommies with rh positive babies can have serious complications. They really don't know what the babies blood type is until it is born.
What happens is your body can fight the baby like it's a virus or cancer, which will make you extremely sick. The baby can die at birth. It used to be called "blue baby syndrome". Back in the 1940's when my mother was born, there was no "shot" or quick fix. My grandma had two stillborn births after my mother. It's pretty serious.
I also have to add, rhogam used to have thimerasol added to it. It's a mercury based preservative. Mercury can cause autism, add and other serious nerological defects. I hate to break it to you girls, the flu shot has thimerasol! I am 28 weeks, and due for a rhogam shot.
You may not know, but you can get a "titer" test. It shows whether or not your body is fighting the baby. Rhogam is made from human plasma. In other words, you are getting a dose of someone else's blood. I read up on the bayer website about this, including the product insert info card (like 10 pages long!). Although they do screen the blood product the shot is crafted from. There is a note about possibly contracting hiv or hepatitis c from it. They do screen, but there's always human error. Yikes.
Fyi.....I just found out the rhogam shot is going to cost me about $400. Nice being a rare blood type. Not!
