Hi,

just wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of some info about how/if/whether the mirena iud can lessen pms (irritability, headaches, low mood, migraines, etc.)

thanks!

Your doctor's nurse can also answer any questions about the iud.

A lot of women love it! I don't think it would give you the same pms type symptoms as the pill because it doesn't contain any estrogen.

Good luck!!

Hi! I have had the mirena for about a month. While I have had some cramping and spotting that I will check out, I am happy to report that I have had no side effects form the hormones. This is good news for me since I have never been able to successfully withstand the moodswings from the pill, no matter what dose, nor simple progesterone pills. The mirena site says that the hormones are localized so do not enter much into the systemic bloodstream.

I had Mirena in between pregnancies and in the begining it was fine, but after a year or soI started experiencing a low libido, and I had acne as if I was a teenager. Now I have another IUD, Paragard, and I'm wondering if it has some effects on my PMS, because lately they are very bad.
