...Headache, kidney pains, body aches, sweating, etc.

I'm a reasonably healthy 41 year-old male -- or at least I thought I was -- and got sick with severe shaking chills and a fever of 102.5, seemingly out of nowhere. Then there was violent vomiting - 6 times with hours -- though there was nothing in my stomach. I felt so debilitated it was all I could do to get in a hot shower to calm my convulsions. Then it vecame difficult to move. This happened on 10/24/05 and it is now 10/29/05 and the fever is at 102.5. The fever has varied in temperature from just over 100.2 to 102.5. The only trigger I can recall seemed to be kidney pain. I thought it was a kidney stone attack, which i've had once before.

But this seems abnormal and is causing me concern. I ate nothing from monday until thursday, when I had some juice and a smoothie. Today I had some oatmeal and another smoothie. I haven't sought medical attention because I was physically incapable of doing so when the illness kicked in...It was that incapacitating.

I'm better now, but still have an earache, headache, and 102.5 fever -- though it fluctuates lower. I haven't sought medical attention because i'm a currently unemployed and uninsured writer...Though I was actively seeking employment up to the time of the illness.

I smoke cigarettes and drink caffeine. Those are my only bad health habits, though I suppose I could have a better diet. My weight is proportional to my height. My cholesterol is fine. So was everything else the last time I checked...About a year ago. Anyway, i've been combating this mostly with water, vitamins, and ibruprofen until I was finally able to get some food down. Eating seemed to sooth the abdominal pains...Though it did release a lot of upper and lower bowel gas. Bowel movements seemed to cause some overall relief for several hours, the first -- since monday -- was on friday and I had another today.

I'm getting worried. Any thoughts on what this might be and what I might be able to do about it? Please, any help would be appreciated.
