Your description of symptoms is right on
with what I've been experiencing for about
4 months now. I'm in the process of
getting MRI's done. I just recieved the
results of the first one and now am
scheduled for another.....the radiologist
saw something funky with my carotid
artery. I'm assuming it may be that the
carotid artery is compressing the
trigeminal nerve? The most distinct
symptom I could relate to in your original
blog was the "growing" sensation in your
nose/septum. Very strange, but that was
the perfect explanation. Will you please
post an updated blog....I'm really curious
to hear how you are doing since your
surgery.

I Have the Symptoms Too Posted: 11-24-07 16:43pm
Hello to the person who has the symptom
that his nose is growing! I can only post
quickly now, but I will come back on. For
2 years I have been telling doctors that
it feels like my nose is growing. I have
pain along my nose bone, between my eyes,
black and blue between my eyes, soreness,
which evolves into headaches. I
thoroughly believe you! I will be back to
write more and read more of your story, I
have spent hours! on the internet trying
to find a reason for this, will be back
within a day....suffrin2 Nov. 24/07

In Alot of Pain!! Posted: 11-25-07 16:48pm
Hi,
I am a 26 yr old female and have been
having horrible pains on the right side of
my face and neck. I have listed all my
symptoms below:
1. Feels like a stabbing pain that bolts
throughout my head into my teeth, my eyes,
my neck.
It has been occuring once a year around
november for the past 3 years. In the
past I thought it was a pinched nerve,
since my neck pops out of place, so I was
seeing a chriopractor.
Now it feels like it could be my sinus, my
teeth, my nerves, I don't know where to
start.
The pain gets so bad my right eye starts
to tear and twitch and I have been living
off of exedrin for the past several days
taking around 6 a day or so...which has
made me feel sick as well.
I also just got over a cold and I see
little drops of blood when I blow my
nose.
It also seems to get worse when I drink,
the pain is unbearable and sleeping seems
to help...can somone advise which doctor
to go to first? Or advice on how to stop
the pain!

Face And Neck Pain Posted: 11-26-07 14:59pm
I have had a lot of the same symptoms they
are sore nasal bones a pressure feeling on
cheeks, pain in back of head plus
scratching feeling in top of head. I have
red eyes with small white lumps in my
eyes. I sleep well but my eyes and eye
lids are black. Also neck, shoulder and
upper back pain. Sore neck and shoulder
muscles, blurry vision and a lot of sinus
headaches. Neck muscles sometimes feel
like there going to close my throat.
Feeling exhausted all the time I had to
goive up work 3 months ago due to my
problems I had xrays on my neck which
showed a bulging disk I seen a neuro
surgeon and he said it was only mild. I
also had abdominal and nausea which was
helped by a accupunture. I,m at my wits
ends. Symptoms and pain seems to be worse
in winter

facial nerve pain Posted: 01-15-08 23:22pm
I am a dental assistant and the first
thing that popped into my head was
trigeminal nerve pain. My suggestion is
to find a dentist who is knowledgeable
about TMJ and trigeminal nerve issues.
Could be an Oral Surgeon or someone who
does lots of complicated surgery. I dont
know that a neurologis t would be the
right doc, but possibly a dentist could
give them a direction to look at.
This is a very complicated area and the
nerves go all over the face.
The post from debmullen is a good place to
start. Look up all the information you
can on facial nerves and print up anything
that follows your pain. Take it with you
so you can physically point out where you
hurt and your symptoms.

face pain Posted: 01-28-08 13:43pm
I'm having the same symptoms as everyone
else has described. i do think it's a
sinus problem. I've taken antibiotics,
which did not help. I use a neti pot now
again everyday 3-4 times, which hasn't
really helped.
I am beginning to think that I have a
systemic yeast infection, which I plan to
run past a new doctor on Wednesday. I
actually don't expect much from her, but
if I get relief/cure/real answers, I will
let you all know. My next step is to act
as if I do have a systemic yeast infection
and change my diet accordingly (basically,
no starch or sugar and taking probiotics,
no caffeine - in other words, a major drag
of a diet - but very healthful) What has
alleviated the pain at night is to rub
Teatree oil into my face, especially over
the sinus cavities. Meanwhile, my sympathy
to you all.

I was in shock when I read all these-most
are exactly what I have been going through
for a year. Curious if anybody is on
Effexor. I am on Effexor XR going on 6
years and the neurologist said this
actually might be the cause of the
problems after long term use.

mucus? Posted: 04-12-08 18:37pm
I was wondering if mucus causes this pain
and is result of a particular diet?
Does fasting help anybody?

Face Pain, Headaches And Neck Pain Posted: 05-15-08 13:57pm
I can identify with all the above
postings. I may find something (pain)
that I had forgotten to list, when I am
reading on down.
I have had most of these symptoms for many
years. I have gone to pain doctors,
neurologist, sinus doctors, had sinus
surgery in 1993. I have been going to
another pain doctor, which neurolgist sent
me to for a trigger point injection, a
couple of years ago. That didn't seem to
work real well either. Now I have been
taking Lyrica since January 2007. Three
out of four days this week I have had this
pain again to a greater degree than I had
been having. I am and have been totally
confused whether anything helps or not.
Back in the early 90's sometimes a
pseudoephedrine would make the neck and
jaw pain go away. Sometimes I have also
experienced that it made it worse.
This week I have been trying Capsacian and
"Chinese Herbal" jell which I got out of
one of those catalogues Carol Wright, etc.
etc. It helps some for a while. At first
it burns so you can't feel the pain. I
might add that this week has been really
damp and coolish outside. One day, a
month or so ago, I was feeling fine when I
opened the door to get the mail, a sharp
breeze hit my left side and I immediately
had it again. I too find that at night
when I am asleep is the only peaceful
time. Although, I may also have a period
of days when I feel more pain-free. The
longest period I have gone without pain,
at a time, has been 6 days. .Most usually
those days are bright, sunny and humidity
isn't high. I have been running 30%
pain-free days a month lately. I thought
it was going to hit 50% this month but
with this week of pain, that probably
won't happen.
I do remember having it a period of time
in the 90's. It had been real cool, wet,
rainy, and damp during that time also.
It made me feel more normal seeing all the
different posts on here. However, it kind
of made me feel worse also. We have all
these people out there with the same type
of pain and no relief being found by any
doctor.
I just said, on the phone this morning, to
a friend of mine that I still think this
is all sinus-related. It seems to follow
the trigeminal nerve route. Years ago
another pain doctor thought that was what
the problem was but couldn't find anything
pressing on that nerve etc.

This is happening to me, but i have a complication Posted: 07-08-08 10:20am
hi there
I have a complication - I have severe
migraines, which always appear on the
right side. Now I have the same horrible
symptoms you are describing and it is a
matter of trying to understand if this is
an extension of my already dismal life
with migraine - or something new to be
even more depressed about.
The eye pain is the worst part. the
numbness in the mouth is scary.
And the swelling is so bizarre.

Face Pain, Headaches And Neck Pain Posted: 07-08-08 10:39am
I had migraines since I was a teenager. I
am now 68. They were on the same side as
the pain which I now have. Has this pain
over the years made the nerve just misfire
etc.?
I might add that I had a good month in
June 63% headache free. However, that
month was a good month humidity-wise. So
I don't know if it was the weather or if
the Lyrica is helping overall. July has
not started out well. I might add we have
had a lot of heat and humidity also in
July. Also there are times when just my
bra strap may trigger it or make it worse.
I am still confused. I am not ready to
quit the Lyrica but sometimes wonder if it
is really helping. I want to think it is.
