Medroxyprogesterine Posted: 10-27-05 19:17pm
Has any been prescribed
medroxyprogesterine??...My Dr. Prescribed
it to me today because I missed 3
periods...I am currently trying to get
pregnant, and I heard that it might not be
a good idea to take it if I am trying to
get pregnant....Does anyone know???..My
Dr. Did not really tell me much about
it...So I am sort of scared to take it..
Thanks!

Hi! I am actually taking the same thing
for the same reason. I was on depo for a
long time and that really messed my cycle
up. My doctors put me on this med in
hopes to jump start my period again. What
I was explained is that with this
medication you build up a progesterone
level and when you finish the pills, you
are abruptly stopping and this process is
supposed to cause some sort of cycle. I
have have a few days left, so i'm keeping
my fingers crossed. I was told that if I
were to become pregnant will on this med
(which the odds are against me) it could
cause some fetal harm especially in the
first 4 months. How long did they
prescribe the drug for? Mine was 10 mg
for 10 days. Hoped some of this helped.

My Dr. Told me to take it for 5 days..But
he prescribed me 20 pills..So I am
confused...If I don't get my period again
next month, am I supposed to take the
medication again??...I really want to get
pregnant in the next few months (if
possible)...Will the medroxyprogesterine
make me less fertile??...Thanks for your
info!...My Dr. Basically just handed me
the prescription and told me to have a
nice day..! Ha ha

How many mg is each pill? Every dr has
different ideas of what works. Is this a
family dr you are seeing or an ob/gyn? If
that was the response I got from my dr,
i'd be quickly looking for a new Dr. It
wouldn't hurt for a second opinion. The
medicine is supposed to be taken exactly
as prescribed to have the desired effect.
I actually used the same stuff back in
january and it worked temporarily. I
don't think it makes you less fertile. I
think the whole purpose is to reregulate a
person's cycle. Not having your period
means that your hormones aren't at the
proper levels, which you need to have
everything at a right level in order to
conceive a healthy baby.

It is 10mg per pill...I went to an
obgyn...I had not seen him before..Because
my usual Dr. Is out right now...I just
got sort of worried when I started to do
some research on it on the internet...
