I'm a 26 year old male. I've been having some urinary difficulty lately--some days I have to strain to go, somedays i'm constantly going. I have no pain, no fever, no other symptoms. At first it was believed that I had prostatitis, a condition i've had before. This time the antibiotics did not clear it up. Yesterday, my doctor did a urine test and said that I have protein in my urine. He didn't seem concerned and suggested that it was probably an infection/kidney inflammation. He suggested that I see a urologist.
My wife is a rn and works at a hospital with many doctors every day--she talked to 3 urologists today, and none of them seemed overly concerned, just suggesting that I get it looked at by a nephrologist. (sp?) I suffer from severe panic and anxiety attacks, as well as ocd. I've convinced myself that I have kidney cancer or kidney failure. (one urologist said that the likelihood of it being cancer was almost nothing)
should I be worried? I have an appointment with a nephrologist on 11/30/2005.
Is it possible that it's just some sort of infection, or is it likely something more serious?
