Well to start me and my girlfriend have been sexual active for about a year now. One day recently we had sex...No condom we just use the pill, well this useally works out just fine actually, but this time my girlfriend did not have her pills...She forgot to get them filled. She is only a day late for her period and I have read that you can miss periods simply from stressing about being pregnant. She is still taking her pills on a normal bases and doubles up sometimes for the few pills that she missed that one week, my main question is. If she continues to take her birth control pills while she is pregnant will it stop her from being pregnant like a miscarrage? Id honestly love to have kids right now but I dont want to deal with the rumors and mainly telling her parents...I also would not be able to support them. So would get still taking them effect her being pregnant even if she is already?

- thank you very much for absolutly anyone who replies to this post...

If she is pregnant and taking birthcontrol it can harm the baby. Get a test and take it from there. Let us know.

My advise to you and her is to talk to the dr and let him know that she has been taking b/c. And he should run a test and keep an eye on things.
Good luck!
Keep us posted!

Probably won't make her miscarry. If she is still taking them, she must stop. There is a theoretical risk that taking the pill while pregnant can cause birth defects. She must make an appointment asap with her physician for prenatal care. Good luck.

It is absolutely harmful and can cause miscarriage but beyond that if it doesn't cause miscarriage it can cause disabilities and health problems for the baby. If you know she's pregnant then why would you want her to take the pill?

I would tell her to not take them so you don't end up with a child with disabilities.

Sounds smart. I know a girl who took the pill when she knew she was pregnant. For whatever reason she ended up needing an abortion. So yeah the pill can have bad side effects for sure.

Congratulations on your new family member too! Hope all goes well.

Holly.

It's not a good idea to double up for the pills she had missed.. And taking the pill if she is pregnant could cause her to lose her baby
