Q: What's That Smell?

When I am aroused, my vaginal area smells very bad. Also, the lubrication my body produces is thick and white and gross looking. Is this normal? What can I do to remedy this?

I'm not to sure about the very bad smell...But everyone is diffrent. If you are very worried, go see a doctor. The thick white discharge is sometimes normal (atleast for me anyways!!) when I am arroused my discharge is like that and it is also that way close to time for my period.

Hope I helped,
teresa

I think you should see a doctor, the smell thing is not supposed to happen. I mean all bodies are different and we smell different to but if it stinks to you-something needs to be checked out.

It could be an infection.

That happens to me whenever I am dealing with bacteria vaginosis. No big deal go to the doc they'll give you some gel or some antibiotics and send you on your way.

may be it is an inflammation. Don't worry and see a doctor.

It's probably just a case of bacterial vaginosis. It's a common infection and can be treated with antibiotics like metrogel. You should see your gynocologist though, because odor and discharge isn't usually "normal". Best of luck.

Ok, so the gyno said it wasnt bv, but that it was a yeast infection (even tho I didnt have any irritation) and slapped me with a $60 rx that only worked for about a week or so. Now the smell is back, still no irritation, tho now there's not the discharge. Now what?

Vaginal discharge isn't supposed to smell really bad. That is a sign of a vaginal infection.

Yeast Infection
Different people have slightly different symptoms but if your doctor ran a test for yeast and diagnosed you with a yeast infection I would try an over the counter yeast infection medicine. It doesn't cost $60 and it works for me when needed. If in seven days you still have symptoms I would go back to the doctor, you may have a much more serious problem.

So I noticed that my discharge when aroused is really thick and white, not lumpy or anything, but the same consistency and look of say hand cream. Also sometimes I get about as messy as my boyfriend. Like some of my discharge will run out after sex. And I know it's not him, cuz he pulls out before he comes. (don't worry, im on birth control :) ) so is the discharge thing normal for anyone else?

Oh, and is it normal for my vaginal area to have that bad smell even right after I take a shower?

(man I wish I wasn't so naive, but hey, that's what this site is for, right? :) )

If it is a continual yeast imbalance--acidophilis is good for that. Either chewable or sugar free yogurt(if you can find sugar free) with live cultures, you have to eat the yogurt everyday. Well, the pills too.

Most grocery stores have it now. Not usually the chewable ones, but they do have it.

Yeah just look on the side of the yogurts, ive seen them in my grocery store, just the cheap store brand too, on the side youll see it says "contains live cultures." so I don't think itd be too hard to find, although I dont think I buy the sugar free ones. Oh and did you ask your doctor if maybe you needed to take the medicine longer, or a higher does to get rid of the yeast infection? Something like that isnt good to be keeping around, and no you shouldnt be having that bad of a smell that you notice it after a shower. I don't think thats considered 'normal'. Also, have you tried maybe douching every once and while? Would that maybe help to prevent bacteria building up? Well best of luck, and hope you get better!

I wont go anywhere near douching. From what ive heard, it sounds like it causes more problems than it fixes. Thanks for the other advice tho. I'll check it out.
