Hysterectomy - Penetration before the 6 week period stated recov
My best friend and I are in a relatively big fight; I had a hysterectomy 3 years ago; @44yrs. old; and my doc INSISTED ON NO PENETRATION OF ANY KIND for 6 weeks. My girlfriend had one for fibroid tumors and ovarian cysts about around Feb. Originally she had sex (gental she claims) after 2 weeks; then after her doctor told her it was a go without examining her and she ended up in the emergency room for a tear and a hole...; then she was told another 6 weeks, withing 3 weeks she did it with someone kindof biggish; and again; emergency room, this time they kept her 6 days, she had infection everywhere inside and they did surgury through the abdominum and thru the vagina. I have given all my time, taking her here and there, visiting her in hospital and picking her up and taking her to her post care visit, and my car is like 25 years old... and then she told me Friday - which again was 2 weeks out of the big surgury, she did it again and I took issue in a big way with her and now she is mad at me. Am I being meen, nasty or putting her down because I told her I have had it she is on her own now. I worry about her and care alot about her but why should I take the time and money and my beat up car to do all this when she doesn't even respect her own body enough, and do what the doctors say, to take care of herself, and I end up taking care of all the loose ends? Someone tell me I am not being a judgemental "word meaning female dog", but someone that cares and doesn't want her to die? Plus is there any related things where premature penetration caused extreme, nearly deadly consequences? If I had some more information on this topic I could give it to her, merely passing on the hyperlink instead of emotions involved. Thank you very much as this is upsetting me, I don't know if she has a death wish or she just doesn't understand how seriuosely close to death she was, and she has a little boy and a grown one and a lot of people that love her a lot.

Da Vinci hysterectomy, does this sound like similar pain.
I had da vinci total hysterectomy May 4. I am still having what feels like a side ache on the right. Plus searing sharp pain on right and the skin on the right side of abdomin very sensitive to touch. CT showed nothing. Sex felt okay at first, now painful and a lot of pressure afterwards. Doc says something is not right & wants to have another look inside. But sounds like a lot of women have this pain. I am frustrated.

post hysterectomy pain on the right side
i had a Da Vinci hysterectomy July 9. My doctor left my ovaries in. I am 5 weeks out and had a check up today. i have very bad pain on the right side and around the navel. My doctor set me up for a ultrasound in 3 weeks to check for cyst on my ovaries. My uterus was filled with cysts and endo. I hope this goes away because I don't want to have another surgery. i have 4 children and several day care children that need me.

Post-hysterectomy
I'm five weeks post-op on a partial hysterectomy...going to the doctor on Friday and am looking forward to it. I have read that it can take from 6 months to 1 year to be completely back to normal. I'm still pretty swollen and extremely tender...it's like a 24/7 soreness. I'm still walking funny and my back hurts. I really want to clean my house and just be able to do something..anything other than sit. I do get out of the house and run errands...probably too much. I'm just ready for this to be over. I do have a pulling sensation on the right side and there is an area that is more prominent that the other side just above my incision. My doctor says it is not a hernia, but, just the way the fascia is healing and if it is too noticeable, I can always get it fixed. I just want to know that I'm on track and don't need to worry. I do not do any housework right now. Ok, that's completely true...I do sort a load of laundry now and then and I do get the Swiffer duster after the hard floor..pets. That's about it though. My husband does all the cooking and everything else. He has a job...the house is mine. I've frustrated. And sex....I want to at six weeks if my doctor says I can, but, I don't think I'm going to be able to...sad about that...I'm so sore inside and swollen. I just have to try to be patient..not easy. Anyway, these are things I'm experiencing...if anyone wonders if they are "normal" and having the same issues I am...you aren't alone.

I had a total Hysterectomy 5 weeks ago,I started swelling and having pain about 4 days ago. Also now have a dimple below my navel and pain there also. they left my ovaries in. at first i thought i was doing too much so i blame the swelling on that, but now I hardly do anything and still have swelling. so now i am drinking more water and am walking inside the house more, also am going to get a B-12 shot, for energy. has anyone else tried this, also any ideas or feedback greatly appreciated.

Swollen
I had a divinchi orthoscopic hysterectomy on October 1,2009. I am still very swollen and worried about fitting into my clothes when I return back to work on Nov. 16th. How long was it until you started to see the swelling go down.

I also had a radical hysterectomy. It doesnt hurt so much as it is uncomfortable still with the swelling. The more I drink ,the more i swell and I am only drinking water and tea. It''s been five weeks, feeling positive but would love the swelling to subside. All the best to all the ladies who have been through it or are going through it. Take care of yourselves. Cheers

I had a total hysterectomy and both ovarys out 4 weeks ago. One reason I did the surgery is I was having bad lover right side pain, now the pain is back but worse. Did I do this for nothing,so frustrating. I also have a 4 year old and a 1 year old to run after and it has been soooo hard. No one seems to undestand the pain.

Thanks for all the help. This has let me know everyone heals differently. i keep hearing women say they were up and at em in one week. I am 9 days out and in so much pain I cant stand it. I do not have a high thresh hold of pain to begin with. I understand what the one comment said about it feeling like im 8 months pregnant and the pressure of labor. That is what I feel. I cant sleep and barely eat. UGH! I want this pain to go away!

I am 2 weeks Post Op from a total robotic hysterectomy. The best think I have found for pain is my heating pad!!
I have one with 3 settings and an auto shut off so when I fall asleep it shuts off so I won't get burnt. The 1st week I could only sleep if I wrapped it around my stomach. I have 4 incisions ranging 4-6 inches (much larger than I Expected)You can also ask your Dr for a MUSCLE RELAXER. My Dr prescribed one for me because he said the pinching & burning pains and the pains in my back and hips are muscles and nerves trying to heal as well as all of the inside sutures. I only have to take the muscle relaxer before bed to help me sleep. He also said, you will heal from the inside out.Even when the incisions are healed and you have less pain keep in mind that there is still alot going on inside the abdominal area and still much healing to be completed. He insisted I DO NOTHING, no house cleaning, dish washing cooking anything more than microwave heating until between 2-3 weeks!!! I drove yesterday for the 1st time. I had to go somewhere that I sat in table chair for an hour and a half. I was fine sitting but as soon as I got up I was in pain. I knew my body was telling me I over did it. I sat in my recliner the rest of the day and night with my heating pad and kept it on while I slept. I feel much better today.
I hope this helps Blessings to you all!!!

Hysterectomy pain
I am 8 days post-op. Having severe left sided burning when I stand and walk. Stops me from having the exercise I need to heal. Pain subsides a little when I sit down.

Is this normal?

Swelling and pain/discomfort
Hi ladies,

Had a full hysterectomy on June 28th (9 wks ago). The swelling is crazy. Can't fit into my clothes. Went back to work after 4 weeks but coulda used more time. At my last followup, I asked my doc just what happened in there. Why is it so sore and swollen? She said that not only did she have to cut through my ab muscles (I knew that was coming, through my c-section scar) but then, to get to my enlarged uterus, she "had to peel back all my ab mucsles to the bottom of my ribcage". How's that for an explanation? And then, at work I had lots of pain after lunch. Then it dawned on me. After I eat lunch, my stomach expands and puts pressure on the inside of my ab mucsles causing some pretty bad pain. SO WATCH HOW MUCH YOU EAT!!!

On a positive note.... I had a TAH with both ovaries removed 6 weeks ago for fibroids, polyps and stage 4 endomitriosis. I am feeling great and doing well. I have so much more energy. I felt great 3 weeks post-op - started exercising, boating, playing ball with kids, etc. My abdomen is not as bloated as before surgery, no bleeding, cramps, pressure or back pain - it's awesome. Only complaint is difficulty sleeping. I am a L&D nurse and returned back to work this week working 12 hr shift and on my feet for most of the time and no time for lunch. I have to say that I did experience moderate abdominal burning and tenderness which Im sure meant I was over doing it. Overall, I am doing very well and am so glad I had the surgery done with no regrets. I wish everyone the best and speedy recovery.

I had a vaginal hysterectomy about 4.5 wks ago and feeling good. I took my own stiches out of my stomach and pubic area, but just wondering were there stiches in my belly button? I have been back to dr for a check, internal stitches still healing. I was asking other questions and he was showing me pics of the surgery and I forgot to ask. No pain or anything, just a bump that feels like a stitch knot under my skin.

I am and have been experiencing the same sort of pains you are describing. It is probably best to consider that you might have a kidney infection. I am now 2 1/2 weeks post op from a total laparoscopic hyst. At my 2 week check up, I requested to be treated for a uti as a result of pain on my right side and back. As well as the frequency of urination during the night. I attribute it all to the catheterization for surgery. Now that I have been on medication for a few days, I notice I am having less pain.
Best Wishes,
Katrina
