Help Please!
Posted: 10-18-05 15:38pm

Eight months ago I slept with a man unprotected. He assured me he had previously had a sexual health checkup and at the time, I belived him. I now have doubts about weather he was telling the truth and it is causing me much distress.

I also had cystitus a couple of months ago and rencently got thrush diagnosed by my doctor. This is the only symptoms I have had could it be possible I have hiv?

Get Tested to Get Comforted

Youve been already in a long gap since the incident, however, you have not mentioned if you had sexual exposure after that incident. Since the gap is long, you are already in the comfortable zone to get tested. I mean you have crossed the window period.

Its better for you to get tested confidentially, to make sure youre safe and sound.

Dont loose courage. And dont imagine symptoms. Get tested and be sure that the symptoms are due to normal illness.

I think kiklis2k means have you had any sexual intercourse/activity since this incident. And no, you won't be immune to it; I think that kiklis2k is just looking at the possibility that you could have spread it to someone else.

Hiv is not at all related to colds or infections. Essentially hiv attacks your immune systems and prevents the reproduction of white blood cells. This puts you at a more vulnerable risk for getting colds/infections etc. And makes it more difficult for your body to fight them off. When your white blood cell count drops below about 10,000 (as an effect of the hiv), you are labeled as an aids patient. Aids cannot be passed between people; only hiv can.
