to Get You Thinking!! (Page 1)

I remember a friend asking me one day what I would do in the following scenario, think about it and explain your decision and why that would be your decision.

By the way, i'm not a doctor and I don't know much about this sort of thing so don't jump on me for the medical details its just to give you the general idea.

For the women on here:

your 2 months pregnant and your husband has been unexpectedly diagnosed with kidney failure and has only a matter of weeks to live. It is discovered that you are the only family member who can donate one of your kidneys to him but if you decide to go ahead with the transplant you will have to abort the baby. What do you decide?

For any men:

your wife (who is 2 months pregnant) has been in a car crash and is seriously injured. The doctors tell you that in order for your wife to survive they will have to abort the baby, but there is another option... With a bit of medical intervention they would be able to keep your wife alive long enough for the baby to survive, your wife would die though.

Lets not turn this in to a arguement about who is right or wrong this is just to get you all thinking about what you would decide.

Personally I would abort the child, no one means more to me than my husband, he is my life. We could always try for a child latter on if we really wanted to. Believe me when I say this - I am currently 3 months pregnant and couldn't bear the thought of losing this baby but when it comes down to it my husband means more to me.

Its something everyone hopes never happens to them, but if it did my first recourse of action would be to find out the lilklyhood of survival for each, if both were equal in their survival expectancy I would probably pray a lot for not only a miracle but also guidance. I think I would probably be more on the side of trying to save the baby for a few reasons.

1. My wife would have experienced life upto the accident where the child was only begining her life

2. After praying I would be faced with the death of jesus so we could have life, god dying so his children can live, thats pretty heavy!

3. In todays climate of putting your own wants first, I would sacrafice my prefered option (to save my wife) in order to show others that sacraficing our own life to let someone else live, is exactly what jesus done.

4. Also in todays world where the child is considered less than human I would save the child as testimony to the value of a child and hope that my wifes death would in some small way give life not only to our child but life to many other children too.

Not that this is part of the discussion or anything, but I thought I would post this anyways. My cousin was killed and his sister got pregnant a short while after he died. She had alot of problems with the baby and many risks of dying so they got about 1 week away from just going ahead having and inducing labor, because of all of them problems and risks she had of losing her life and the baby. Well anyways, like 2 days before inducing labor she went to the doctor because she wasnt feeling any movement from the baby and was in alittle bit of pain. Unfortunately, the baby's cord got wrapped around its neck and strangled the baby. He is now buried by my cousin, and they named the baby what her brother wanted to name his baby. It was so sad, the baby was completely formed. That family has been through a lot. On a good note, they now have a beautiful baby girl, and are living a pretty happy life. Sorry if this thread threw any of you off and I know it doesnt have anything to do with the topic, just thought I would share. Thanks.

My answer is.. I would never abort our child, and my husband/boyfriend etc. Would never ask me too. My husband has lived a life maybe not to the fullest, but my child hasnt even been given the chance to live,i would say i'm keeping my child.. There is to many tech. Today that would help him live...And there are procedures that can be done where you wont have to make that option. They are able to perform procedures that wont harm the baby at all

Like tazzyd...I could never abort my baby for any reason. If it was between the life of my husband and my baby....It is just something I would have to put in god's hands. If it was my life or my babies....I would expect my husband to do the same. God won't make a mistake in how it turns out if we put it in his hands.

sure that is what you meant... Caught another anti choicer in a lie... Start the backpeddling! And since this is the only board I post on, I don't know where you get your information about being banned elsewhere. Did jesus whisper it to you at night?

i seriously doubt that jesus would whisper about "you" to anyone.

tazzy...I am so sorry to hear about your situation. That must have been doubly hard on you....First being raped and then being forced into an abortion. My heart goes out to you.

think about this.....
You decide to keep the baby and your husband dies.....2 months later you lose your baby......

I would definitely give my kidney to my husband!
