Q: Phimosos (can't Retract Foreskin)

Hi all,
i'm a 17 year old male from uk and I have phimosis.
It's never caused me any pain but I don't think my penis looks right when it's erect with the tight foreskin.
This, in the past has made me nervous about the prospect of sex, and I really think that a circumcision will give me the extra confidence I need.
I think i'm going to opt for a circumcision, but I was wondering where I go to get circumcised?
I've done quite a bit of research into the risks, pros and cons of circumcision, but I don't know where to go. Shall I just visit my gp?
Thanks in advance for any help, ryan

Circumcision has the benefits of being cleaner, not having to retract your foreskin, and reducing the risk of infection. It is said, however, that you lose some of your sensitivity; but guys who have been circumcisized all of their life don't know the difference and still find sex/masturbation enjoyable so I don't know how different it could really be.

Just as a thought, there is a cream that can be prescribed by your doctor (atleast in the us; I dono about in the uk) that, with continued use, will make it very easy to retract your foreskin.

Hope this helps!

Ohh, thanks a lot, I might give cream a try.
Anyone know the name of the cream? Sounds like it's worth a go.

I don't know what it is called, but I do know it must be prescribed by a doctor.

Ok, thanks for your help anyway.
One more question:
there's a girl in my life, and i'm hoping to have sex with her real soon, however, the problem with my penis (phimosis) puts me off. Do you think she'd be bothered that I cannot retract my foreskin at the moment? Because i'm frightened to death that she'd not like it or something.
Thanks for any replies.

Maybe, maybe not; it depends on her. Your best bet is to wait until you can easily retract your foreskin; it will be easier and less painful for you.

No
No, do not get cut. Do not get cut. Please! I also have phimosis and I am almost 18 years old.

Step 1: the first thing to try is natural retraction. Buy some kind of lube and lube up your foreskin. Peel the skin over the head (while flaccid) and hold it for about 3 minutes. Repeat this doing it about 9 minutes total. Then, put your index finger, pointing to your belly button, touching the head of your penis, skin retracted. Let the skin fold over the finger, and keep it at the point where it is stretching the most. (usually the middle of the head) you will see a whiteish stretch line on the foreskin. Do this twice a day for 30 days, if that does not work...

Step 2: as someone else said, buy the lotion. You can get it from your doctor and apparently this works in over 80% of phimosis cases.

Step 3: speak to your doctor of any other possibilities

step 4: something like 7 in 1000 people, after trying all these techniques, need circumcision. I doubt you or I are in this rare % of people, so try all this stuff.

Goodluck, I am currently in stage 1.

Goodluck again my friend, do not resort to gettin cut unless necessary. There are other ways. Goodbye.

Oh
Oh, and another thing. No, she will not be put off. If she likes you and is willing to let you have sex with her at what I assume is a young age, then she will not stop you because of hte look of your penis. I have been having sex, and other things (oral, everything) with my girlfriend for about 2 years now. It is great, it does not hurt. The only thing that bugs me is the look of my penis. I just want to be able to pull it back with ease. Good luck again!

Thanks a lot twisted18, what you just said brings my mind at ease a whole lot more.
Taking in the advice you've said, i'm not going to rush in to circumcision. I'm going to try the lubes and creams. It's definately worth a try by looking at the success rate.
Thanks once again, ryan :)

Well, i've given the creams a try and tried all the stretching, but to be honest, it's had next to no effect. I visited by doctor a few weeks ago about it and he's referred me to a urologist. I have my appointment on tuesday, when I think my circumcision will be arranged. I am now looking forward to the prospect of having a cut penis and being able to see my glands. I just think it's unnormal not being able to retract it.
Another question: does anyone know if it hurts a lot after the circumcision?
Thanks, ryan

The post-surgery can be a little painful, from what i've heard. Takes about a week so heal to the point where you can actually do things other than lay in bed, as I understand it. It might be as long as 2-3 till you can masturbate/have sex.

Keep us updated and the best of luck!

Ok, thanks cd. I've heard that you can go to work the next day after the op! Dunno whether to believe it or not though. Well I had my appointment, and the doctor confirmed I had phimosis (which I already knew) and I am now on the waiting list for a circumcision. (approx 2-3 weeks). I'm quite nervous now. Not due to the operation, but about whether it will hurt a lot post-surgery. :(

I've heard the going to work thing too, but I also know a few people who have been on bed rest for a week afterwards, so, who knows...

update
i'm now circumcised. I got circumcised last thursday and it's still healing at the moment. Now I look back, i'm happy I got it done because my foreskin was very tight before. Over the last few days it looks a lot better too.

one question though: is it normal to have sort of a yellow scab at the back of my penis (near frenulum)? I've had it for 3-4 days now and I was just wondering if it was part of the healing process?

Hi,

Im a 22yo male from Aus n i have the same problem as ryan above. I could retract my foreskin but it hurt and led to ripping and bleeding during intercourse. Obviously ive opted for a circumcision.

7 days ago I had the cirumcision, the surgen said there were no complications.

the cut was high and loose, so the skin goes all the way up to the base of my glan. This wasnt exactly what i wanted but i never had the discussion regarding what i wanted... i was put to sleep by the nurse before i ever saw the surgen. either way im not to bothered because i have a darker complexion so the only color change is at the gland which i think makes it look a little nicer.

anyways i have a couple of concerns regarding the healing, im 7 days in and its still very iritable and sore. I am still wearing a looseish pad with vasseline on it. There is no real bleeding when ever i change the pad but i usualy do find some blood traces on my pad even when i woke up this morning. I believe this may be caused from erections i have been having as i was given nothing to stop them and have been waking up in the night from pain. These have not caused lasting pain or excessive bleeding however. I am also still leeking a clear yellowish liquid from my frenulum, it hass been quite significant since surgery but has decreased recently, namely last nite.

I do however have a clearish yellow scab looking thing over my frenulum and around half of the cut line, the more I read the more ppl seem to say its ok. my concern lies in that I have only seen this appear over the last 2 days, and within that time, my penis has become waay more iritable. Much more sensitive from movement and to the touch. wheren the first few days it was just as sensitive, but it was painful sensitivity, now it is iritable. days 4 and 5 were actually much better than 6 and 7 so I was just wondering if this is normal or may there be some chance of infection etc??

thanks in advance!
