Hi. I have just been diagnosed with
cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (cin1)
(which I think is just another term for
mild cervical dysplasia) after a pap
smear.
I have read that several studies indicate,
the development and progression of
cervical dysplasia may be related to
certain nutritional deficiencies,
including folate, beta-carotene, and
vitamins a & c. And i've heard a few
stories from women who have taken
nutritional supplements and this has
helped the immune system get rid of the
abnormal cells.
I would really prefer to try and let my
body treat itself at this early stage,
rather than having a possibly
'uneccessary' surgical procedure.
I am still waiting to see a gynecologist,
so i'm not sure what he will reccommend
for me yet, but I would love to hear
anyone's advice or experiences.

I had cervical dysplasia. I had laser
surgery done to remove them. I too read
about supplements. I also read that
imbalanced hormones can weaken the cervix
and so dysplasia can occur more easily.
Here is what else I experienced. Painful
period, irregularly long peiod, spotting
for no reason, etc. I started taking vit
b complex, calcium and one a day right
after my surgery because I think I have
imbalanced hormone. One month after
that, my period hurt less. Another month
later, my period is shorter (5 days
instead of 10). 3 months later, my cycle
was just 40 days long and I felt
absolutely no pain.
I'm confident that my hormones are more
normal now and my dysplasia will not come
back.
Try doing that for a few months. Hope it
will help.
Good luck!

Hi,
i also had mild cervical dsyplasia about
eight years ago and I had cryosurgery to
treat it. I'm glad I did it because I
hadn't had an abnormal pap since, so it
was worth the procedure. The only effects
I had from it were cramps and I had to
wear a pad- not a tampon- for three weeks
because I had dead cells flowing out of
me- basically they froze my cervix and
hence- it thawed!
I reflect back on it and I think there
were a couple of reasons why I had it-
first my mother had it and she waited too
long, I was also on birth control pills
and the pills can cause you to be
deficient of certain vitamins like vitamin
b-6 and folic acid, plus I was sexually
active so it increased my risk. My best
advice to you is take the necessary steps
to treat it now and get on a good
multivitamin, plus increase your folic
acid-
best of luck!

Thank you!
I am taking a multi-vitamin daily. I am
still waiting to see a gynecologist, so I
will let you all know what happens there.
I might see a naturopath aswell.
Thanks again.

I finally had my colposcopy. It was
totally pain free for me. I couldn't
even feel a thing. I did, however,
faint afterwards. I just felt really
dizzy when I stood up to get dressed, and
then fainted. She said its not that
common, but some women do faint. I
have often fainted with needles and have a
queasy stomach sometimes, so I guess its
just me!
So, the gynecologist did another pap smear
aswell as a biopsy. The results were:
pap smear - cin1 and biopsy - cin2. So
I am not very happy about the results.
She recommends I have the lletz procedure
within the next month or two. I have
said yes to this.
I have also made an appointment to see a
naturopath to discuss my health and try to
prevent the dysplaisa from progressing to
a higher grade in the future.
Still keen to hear everyone's experiences
and advice...

Abnormal cells are the result of many
things... Hpv the human papilloma virus
can cause cancerous cells. Eating right
is definately a great thing to do, but
cancer happens to some people regardless.
Cin 1 can go away by itself, it is normal
for this to happen..But cin 2 really needs
treatment. Many women who say they cured
their cervical dysplasia with herbs really
only had cin 1, which can go away by
itself anyways, and they attributed herbs
to this. Cancer is caused by cellular
changes, not vitamin deficiency.

It Happened Again... Posted: 10-14-06 23:29pm
Hi everyone, I didn't realise how long
since I posted, sorry!
I had my leep (called lletz in australia -
large loop excision of the transformation
zone) in march 2006. I had a general
anestheic, so I was in hospital for the
good part of a day. Everything went well,
I had no pain or even discomfort and very
little bleeding afterwards.
Six months later, however, I have just had
my follow up colposcopy and biopsy, which
have resulted in cin2 again. I am quite
upset - more than the first time. The
first time, I was upset, but thought once
it was treated, i'd be fine. Now I
realise I could be going through this time
and time again, so i'm devasted. I also
realise the more procedures I have, the
less likely I am to have a 'normal'
pregnancy, and I haven't had any kids yet.
Has anyone had kids or is anyone pregnant
after having one or more leeps or cones
etc?
I am on a waiting list for another leep
within 3 months. I have also seen a
naturopath who has put me on the below
herbs and supplements to help boost my
immune system and better my general
health.
