I am schedule to have leep procedure done on the 4th of nov. I will also be put to sleep to have it done because my cervix is hard to get to and the dr said he needs to be able to work with my body and get it to do what he needs it to do and if I were awake it would be very painful. I am 28 years old and have 1 child but I also want at least one more. I am just really worried and stressed right now. Could someone please tell me what to expect during and after procedure? What about infertility possibilities? Thanks so much!!!

Hi. I have just been diagnosed with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (cin1) (which I think is just another term for mild cervical dysplasia) after a pap smear.

So I have been doing a bit of reading on the subject. I am not an expert of course, but from everything I have read, a leep procedure does not affect your ability to become pregnant or have children. The procedure would not be performed while you are pregnant, but if you are not, its fine.

I believe that the cervical conization (another procedure) can affect fertility though.

I am still waiting to see a gynecologist, so am not sure what he will reccommend for me.

By now you have had the procedure I had it done a year ago. I was not put to sleep I was actually able to see the whole procudure on a tv monitor that was in my physicans office. Afterwards my cervix was packed to prevent bleeding and the next day or so what ever they packed with started coming out of my vagina when I went to the restroom. It smelled soooo awful

Hi I had the leep last year and recovered quickly. I had very little bleeding & only mild cramps that were not painful. They gave me strong painkillers but I did not use them & took homeopathic medicine instead. Unfortunately my leep did not get rid of all the pre-cancerous cells but I have read that 90% of women will be cured with just one leep procedure. I'm obviously one of the 10% that it hasn't worked on. Anyway I have also read that the leep does not affect fertility or pregnancy, you should be fine to have another child, I wish you all the best.
