Q: After Appendectomy

I need to get some feedback... I recently (3 weeks ago) had my gallbladder removed, then 1 week after the surgery I had my appendix removed. It has been 2 weeks since I had the appendectomy, and I am having wound complications, it started about 4 days ago I had a pinkish-orangish discharge start to come from my wound after a shower. I still had the steri-strips on and so I had two of them removed and a large bandage put over the wound to catch the drainage. I went in for my follow-up yesterday and the surgeon re-opened my wound and stuffed it with gauze which I have to have changed daily. I was wondering if anyone ever heard of this, how long does the wound leak, and will it heal normally after it stops leaking. Is this an infection, I am getting different feedback from the different docs i've seen. One said that fat sometimes liquifies and drains from the wound opening. And another said it was a seroma. I have never heard of a seroma and can't find much info about it on the internet. What exactly is it? Is it a type of infection? How dangerous is it? Any info would be helpful. Thanks

I dont think they are dangerous & i'm pretty sure its not an infection. I think its just a build up of fluid draining from a wound. I would make the drs explain to you what it is & how to go about treating it, instead of leaving you worrying about it.
