Pill Vs Patch
Posted: 12-04-03 10:39am

I've been on ortho-cyclen (not tricyclen) for years. I'm wondering about using the patch though. Can anyone tell me their story about switching from pill to patch? How effective is the patch? Are there different kinds with different dosages? Please reply with any patch information. Thanks.

Hello, I was never on the pill but I was on the patch, you might want to ask your doc on the quick switch though because you might have a different reaction to the patch due to the fact that youve been on the pill so long. The patch is about the same thing as the pill except you change it weekly instead of having to take it daily. Like all birth control there are side effects such as headaches and nausea. You can go to www.Orthoevera.Com and that has information on the patch. They give you 3 patches per box. For the 3 weeks you wear it and the 4th week is your period. It worked for me because I havent gotten pregnant yet! Lol, but I got off it because I want kids soon. Well I hope I helped

Thats me! I cant wait to have a little one that I made! But I was on the patch and what it is, is just a patch and you can stick it certain places so it doesnt fall off and it gives you the same effect of the pill. Only you change it once a week. You can go to www.Orhtoevera.Com and that shows all about the patch

I just got b/c and my doc told me that the patch can get stuck to your clothes and stuff, and if it falls off, you are not protected against pregnancy, and they don't even know exactly how long, because the studies are not complete. Stay on the pill or get depo.

It doesnt always fall off though, and if it does they send you a new box for free. All I know is I was fine on it, and it never fell off and it worked on me. But I suggest staying on the pill since youve been on it so long.

Lots of people like the patch, I however hated it. It got stuck to everything, looked awful on. Yes, you wear it under your clothes, but it is b/c, which means you will most likely be having sex. A big patch is not very attractive. But the biggest problem I had with it, and I hope it is not just me. Picture wearing a bandaid for a whole week. You cannot clean under it or anything. When I took it off, it smelled so bad, and the skin under it was all pruned, and it was just gross. I was only on it for a month and I went back on the pill. But, like I said, some people really like it, so if you really want to try it, go ahead. However, if you do not have any problems with the pill you are currently on, I wouldn't take the chance of having a bad reaction.

the Patch

I was currently on the pill for 10 yrs. I had a baby last march and after that I couldn't remember to take my pill when I started again. My doctor's advice was to start the patch and I love it! The only prob is when you are putting it on making sure it is stuck on well and not wrinkled up. But it is wonderful not to take a pill every morning, you have other things to do with a baby!!!!!

I am with saturn24
I absoluetly hated it. I was also on it for one month and got off of it. I felt like I was forgetting something and was wondering how this bandaid thing could make me not get preg...Plus that fact that it stuck to clothes, itched and was ugle.\

stay on the pill
