Q: the Pill

Well, i'm considering going on the pill. I've been married for not quite a year. I will be 20 tomorrow. I've only ever had sex with my husband. I've never had any serious diseases (just colds and very mild flu, an ear infection as a kid, and chicken pox once) my mom had leukemia when I was a kid but it's been in remission for 15 years with no reoccurances, and my dad has late-onset diabetes. I'm healthy, albeit a little overweight, and have no allergies that I know of (to medicine)

i'm not currently on any medication, nor have I ever been save for antibiotics when I got a root canal several years ago (tooth got hit from falling off a horse and the root broke, cutting off blood supply to the tooth so it died)

basically, I want to know if there's any way to find out if i'll have any kind of adverse effects if I go on the pill? The few medications i've ever taken (over the counter) I never get any of the side effects listed.

I just don't want to end up cranky with no sex drive and even fatter than I am now. Not worth it.

Well, I have never really had anything wrong with me either, except for most of the things that you mentioned. I am a generally happy person, and I get along with most everybody. I went on ortho novum for 3 months and absolutely went crazy!! I had awful mood swings and cried over the tiniest of things. I went off of it after three months, and I gained about 5 or 6 pounds during that time. A month ago I got on ortho tri cyclen lo, and I haven't had any adverse effects on it yet!! I have also lost about 5 pounds since then, and I have went up like a 1/2 cup bra size (which is cool since i'm a a!!)! So, your best bet would be to try it, and if it causes any kind of weird side effects, then just contact your doctor and they should be able to change it for you with no problems.

Hope this helped!! :d

I didn't gain any weight at all until after I quit taking that one, wacky pill. But, with ortho tri cyclen lo, I have already lost that five pounds that I gained! I never lose weight, i've been the same size forever, even though I have tried hard to lose some, so it was probably just from the pill. But hopefully you won't have the same problems!!
