Q: Traveling With a Newborn?

My husband and I live about 8 hours from our family...When our baby is born none of them will be able to come see us because of finances and, in my sister's case, no one to watch her own three small children. I know it may not be adviced to do so, but I was wondering if it would be completely crazy to make a road trip (8 hrs) with my newborn at about a week old?? (as long as my birth and the baby goes all normal and everything that is)

At the time when my daughter was born we lived an hour and a half from our familys. And we traveled. As long as you make sure you have every thing you would need on hand for the trip. Also when my daughter was 6 weeks old we moved to san antonio a 6 1/2 hour trip. And when the babys hungry you need to pull over for safty reasons and ticket reasons! Lol just becareful. And you and your baby will already be going through a change, and then to go to whole new place and alot more people... You might have it ruff for a few days. And make sure that sick people dont get around the baby and make sure that you keep every ones hands and the thing to come in contact with the baby as clean as you make. That is one thing that can make your baby really sick! If you need any thing else, any questions at all feel free to e mail me! any time! Hope what I said helps!
